How fortuitous that I watched your lesson the morning of the evening I was going to need it! 14 rows later, I discovered 7 stitches on the border that I purled instead of knitted. This worked beautifully! Thank you so much!

Roxanne, I must say that during my frustration of trying to knit a sweater with short rows and messed up my front portion. I was at my wits end until I saw this video. I ended up with a loop in the ladders and spent so much time frogging and doing over. Thank you you so much for your explanation. 😊

I am working on a shawl and I realized I had made an error in my garter stitch edge and I had no idea what to do with the very large side loops when I went to drop down to fix it. I searched it and up came your video. Amazingly taught! 🤩 My relief is huge! I have subscribed. I hope you make it to your 100,000 as I post you are at 91.9K.

Dear Roxanne, thank you for the clear explanation and demonstration. I am a very visual learner and I find your step by step working really helpful. I don’t know why I was surprised by the big loop at the end and the idea of using both the top and bottom thread, but that’s what happened to me because I was just doing and not thinking about the doing.

I just want you to know that I FIXED my knitting myself. Whoa. I had to pull out 7 stitches and down about 8 rows. It was hard and I was sure it was a hot mess but I just did it. The edge of this scarf has a built in I cord border so it was hard. BUT I did it. Thank you so VERY much. Happy Knitting

Now that is brilliant - Roxanne. Bravo! So much better than what I usually do with a crochet hook which works - but takes much longer and is really fiddly and harder to really see what I'm doing.

I tried to correct 1 selvage stitch a dozen rows back. I’m on US 2.5 (3mm) circular needles. I unpicked 3 stitches to create my U-turn ladder. Is this too few stitches to work with moving forward? My U-turns were barely 1/2” to work with and I had a lot of difficulty re-knitting with my DPNs. I ended up making a bigger mess and had to frog ~2400 stitches. Have others tried this on small needles? If so, what worked best for you?

I would like to know how to fix the edge/selvedge stitch when it is a slipped stitch. Missed one and it is noticeable. Dianne
@RoxanneRichardson5 жыл бұрын
I would ladder down the three or four edge sts and then work them back up together. The place where you forgot the slipped selvedge will have extra slack that you'll probably want to distribute across those sts, once you've slipped the selvedge stitch properly.
@playhooky4 жыл бұрын
@@RoxanneRichardson I have the same problem (I think). I was doing the selvedge (on a scarf) where you slip the 1st stitch purlwise & knit the last st of ea row. I made a mistake either on the 1st 2 stitches of a row or on the last 2 of a row about 4 rows down from where I am stopped now. I can't for the life of me read my 2 edge stitches right having that slipped stitch in there. I have tried twice already, & will try once more now after watching this, then if it doesn't work I'm just going to have to frog the whole thing (because with the pattern I am doing there is no way I can successfully sew a lifeline in at this point due to the combination of the complexity of the stitch pattern in the body of the scarf & also that it is a fingering weight variegated gray to white yarn & I would get a migraine if I tried to put a lifeline in now!) Thanks for all your helpful videos!

I have a seed stitch border, where I just discovered I had a few rows down where I knit the knits and purled the purls. Can I use your technique for correcting this? Seems like it will be difficult to do, with a seed stitch. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Than you for this invaluable help. I feel like I have turned a majpr corner in my knitting. Question, when fixing a border with slipped stitches how does one pick up those (3) stitches from nothing? Thanks again!
@RoxanneRichardson Жыл бұрын
There will still be three sts there. Capture them on your needle, and then work them as appropriate for each row (RS vs WS). One of the rows will call for working the st, and the other will call for slipping it.

I need to only fix the selvage stitch on both sides of my work. I’m 43 rows in and realized I didn’t read the next sentence that told me to knit the first and last stitch of every row so my wrong side rows are all wrong. Do I ladder down just one stitch and fix the way you showed? The edge is to make pricing stitches up for a ribbed armhole edges. First by doing a round of crocheted slip stitches. I’m wondering if it really matters if I gave the selvage stitch or not- laddering down 43 rows each side seems like a lot of work!

It's hard to know how to answer without more information. If you post your question in my Ravelry group (start a new discussion thread), it'll be easier to answer, because you can share a link to the pattern page, as well as photos. There is always a link to my Ravelry group in each of my video descriptions.

So if you are working on the side where your yarn is, do you just pull out all the stitches? There is no loop if you pull on the yarn side.
@RoxanneRichardson2 жыл бұрын
Just tink back (unknit) the sts at the edge that span where the error is. For example, if you have a border that is 5 sts wide, and you made the error 6 rows before, tink back 5 sts so that the yarn is hanging from stitch 6, and then let those 5 sts at the edge off the needle and ladder those down.
@melindamurray81762 жыл бұрын
@@RoxanneRichardson And if my first and third stitches in the ribbing are slip stitches, I just slip them? I will try what you say. So grateful for your quick response.

How do you fix an icord edge?
@elizabethslowik20034 жыл бұрын
How do you do this when it is not a straight garter stitch. I noticed I have 3 dropped stitches about 10 rows down. On the right hand side I knit front and back, k1, m1, knit to last two then k2tog. On wrong side it’s straight knit across. So I am increasing every other row.
@elizabethslowik20034 жыл бұрын
Used this method and it worked. Just need to tighten stitches.
