Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling to fix an icord edge, making the mistake (remounting stitches) that you point out so clearly. You have explained exactly how to solve the problem I’m currently facing. Bonus points for including how to fix a mistake further down the icord. Great job!

Gosh.. I have somehow stuffed up my icord and cannot figure out how to get it back on and into knitting order. This appears to be the only help video on you tube for I cords.. Does anybody know of any other help available?

Thank you so much! I just realized that 4 rows back, I knit all the way to the end (skipping the sl3wyif), resulting in 3 purl bumps in that row of i-cord). Should I rip back 1 column of the I-cord at a time until it’s fixed, or try to rip back all 3 columns of the I-cord?
@TheUnapologeticKnitter
@TheUnapologeticKnitter 4 ай бұрын
I definitely find it easier to go column by column. I think all 3 at once would be a bit overwhelming! Good luck!!!

So in the video it looks like the i-cord running along the left edge has its 3 stitches with the purl bump facing out on the RS of the work? Is this correct? As you've demonstrated that the right side i-cord has the bumps of purl on the WS?
@TheUnapologeticKnitter
@TheUnapologeticKnitter Жыл бұрын
No, that's not quite correct. Both i-cord edges are the same - the purl bumps are on the inside of the tubes and the knit stitches are facing outwards. To create the i-cord edge at both edges, I worked them identically: start each row with K3, and end each row with sl3 wyif (slip 3 stitches purlwise with the yarn held to the front). When you bring the yarn to the edge of the work to start each row with the K3, the purl bumps should be pushed to the inside of the tube. I hope this helps!

Can you tell me if this is the same for a garter stitch project such as the Sophie scarf. I am struggling to fix it. That is so helpful!!
@TheUnapologeticKnitter
@TheUnapologeticKnitter Жыл бұрын
Hi Sally - while I'm not familiar with the Sophie scarf specifically, yes, the method should be the same regardless of the fabric between the i-cord edges. You want to see all of the purl bumps of the i-cord edge in a row to make sure the stitches are re-mounted correctly on the needle. Happy knitting!

I accidentally knitted the icord stitches that I should have slipped. So I have to drop all 3 stitches and rework them all. It's so tricky to drop all 3 and put them back on. Can you demo dropping and fixing all 3?
@TheUnapologeticKnitter
@TheUnapologeticKnitter Жыл бұрын
Hi Lindsay - I personally wouldn't recommend dropping all three a once. I would follow the steps I show here, doing one column at a time. Start at one edge and drop down and fix 1 column. Then do the second, then the third, all separately. That way you're less likely to make an error. I hope this helps and happy knitting!

Thank you! ! After repeatedly starting over on a scarf, shaped just as your example, I decided to see if KZbin could help with my I-cord dropped stitches. Your instructions were spot on and showed me what I was doing wrong ( the stitch reload order.) Regrettably, I’m given myself quite a bit of practice with the solution 😂, but I’ve also become quite proficient at it. Thank you so much.
