Please the gel polish you used here is it this regular gel polish because it seems to look thicker

It's not regular gel polish. Its a base gel used to overlay the natural nails to give the nails strength so that it doesn't break

By using a cuticle softener to soften the cuticles, cuticle pusher to push back the cuticles, scraper to scrap out all the gunk from the nail round the cuticles and then a trimmer or scissors to cut off the dead skin. I would however advise you to get a machine… there are some really affordable ones you can start with. It helps a great deal
