When should I have the bit in forward or reverse?
@victoriarhodes7161

I have Suzie’s original E-File (the one without the base) and I use Forward on my left hand and Reverse on my right. Works perfectly that way.
@NailCareerEducation
@NailCareerEducation 8 ай бұрын
RARELY - in fact, I never use it I’m right handed. So mine is always on forward. The only time I’ve ever recommended it is when a Student is left-handed then we simply click it onto reverse. They can use the exact same bits. It’s just a different angle.
@Natalies.magical.nails.

I find it easier to get into the cuticle with the Russian bits in reverse even though I’m right handed, and it’s been the same for several other technicians I’ve worked with

@tessaferard7978 8 ай бұрын
I'm ambidextrous so I use forward and reverse all the time. Especially when I do my own. Generally on a client you're staying with one hand and swooping right to left so you wouldn't have to change
@patriciateague8677
@patriciateague8677 8 ай бұрын
@@NailCareerEducationI heard someone suggest when doing your own nails that if you are right handed you would select reverse when working on your dominant hand with your left hand. What do you think? I am only doing my own nails and I've been thinking about an e-file primarily for polish removal. I've used builder gel on a couple of weaker nails that break easily and like it but manually filing the polish off takes longer and even shaping the nail when needed has been a bit difficult so I'm hesitant to use builder gel on all ten. E-files scare me a bit so your video was very helpful.

This is hilarious to me. I’ve been doing this for 35 years and it’s only in the past year too that I’ve heard that some nail technicians go one way. In 35 years it’s never ever been suggested before. So as an educator and an actual nail technician, I 100% suggest you go back and forth. There is no reason whatsoever to go one way. And so many reasons why you shouldn’t. One of the main reasons is, you will lose time, and that will result into losing money. As far as the e-file generating heat, absolutely nonsense. If you’re generating heat on your e-file, it has everything to do with your using it too high, or your bits are getting old or you’re using the wrong bits, or you’re pressing too hard. Just because something is being used fast does not mean it is good better or faster.

Hey Suzie very nice,simple and detailed video, love it, I have one question though, shouldn't we suppose to dust off the efile before changing the bits, bc over time the dust will get down in the hand piece and build up, and cause big problems? I dust mine before changing them, and by the way I love ❤ everything about the small mandrel.
@NailCareerEducation
@NailCareerEducation 8 ай бұрын
Yeah you can. It just depends on how particular you are. Honestly, it takes years for the dust to compact in there. The old e-files we used to use the old dentists. It would compact in there, but it literally would take 10 years before I could see the effects of that. And to be quite truthful, they don’t make equipment like they used to. So these drills Even the $500 ones generally don’t last past that anyway. Now keep in mind the dentistry we used to buy in around $2000.

I have ski slope nails, practically at a 45° angle, what bits would I use to get the cuticle area? When I try to keep everything level, and not dig into the nail at an angle, I always end up burning my nail bed, or filing down too far, what techniques could I use (so I can stop hurting myself)? Also, when it comes to tips I always have to overfill with glue if it's a full cover, or if it sits on the tip I have to trim the corners tilt it down, overfill the well to hold it in place, and hope for the best... There's got to be an easier way..

I'll never forget the lady doing my natural nails & I swear to God it felt like she was burning me. I told her & she acted like I was nuts. I read somewhere that a higher rpm gives less frictional heat, is that true?
@NailCareerEducation
@NailCareerEducation 8 ай бұрын
No!!!!! If you are having friction buildup so much that it’s burning, you are in one spot too long or you’re pressing too hard or your bits are too old. @@Annika64... I was scared at first to work with high rpms- then i got used to it, i leveled up little by little. Your drill should go smooth-even when you dont use pressure. What I mean-in the video you can see her drill bit making holes and getting stuck. That’s because of low rpm. You can cause much more burns with that than a higher rpm! I go with 29-30 for taking off the material. When cleaning up the cuticles, I use red diamond bit on 12rpm, blue or green 15rpm. Just practice on yourself and you’ll see-if your bit is getting stuck, go higher! Just don’t do one place for too long, i always count in my head 1,2,3 and then im off to another part of the nail.

I only do one way instead of back and forth as back and forth causes more heat. I use the Leraco e-file and it's also 35000rpm.

Actually it really doesn’t Heat is caused by RPMs too high or wrong bits for the task or bits too old or leaving your drill too long in one spot

Unrelated question: do you have a tutorial on “glow in the dark” products? I saw a cool set of press ons with a “Christmas light strand” design and the lights were glow in the dark. So cute. 🤓
