Thank you for sharing this explanation. I am considering getting a Clam to use as a catio we can hang out with our kitties in. Is the mesh and fabric reliably sturdy enough to hold up against kitty claws?

The mesh has held up well. My youngest cat, Izzy, went a little nuts with the catio when she discovered falling leaves for the first time. Catio survived her antics.

I know this is a year old post, but we just had the same issue. CLAM has a video showing how to resolve the issue, fairly quickly and easily. Just wanted to share with anyone having the same issue.

That is great to know! The guy I talked to said they had tried to make a video, but couldn't replicate the problem. Perhaps they did it by mistake? Thanks for sharing!

Mine went inside out the first time i tried to do it. They wanted me to remove ALL the poles to fix it. It's bullshit

On top of that the support guy isn’t understanding at at and is super defensive. I owned the tent for 10 minutes and I hated it. I contacted support and now I hate it and the company even more.

It happened to me too when we set it up wrong. Once we learned to do it right, we never had another issue. When staked out correctly it can withstand incredible winds.

@@bridgettaylor2256 We did pretty much what she did. Had to pull the rods out and get everything untwisted. It was in a bad wind and a couple stopped by to help us after they saw our struggle. The real key to setting it up correctly after that was to watch the video every time before we set it up. Has never been a problem since the first time. As for tying it down, we bought heavy duty stakes from the tent camping industry. Some are hammer in and we have a few screw in types. We stake each grommet on the perimeter and then tie a rope (para cord) to each panel and stake it out. It holds up really well in strong winds and from all directions.

I’m pretty good at figuring things out, but my version of logic didn’t work. Call or email the company. They can walk you through process.

The same thing happened to us. I struggled getting it up and realized it was inside out. I took the rods out just so I could pack it up.

It's the Clam Quick-Set Escape 11.5 x 11.5. I have the floor and wind screens.

Did the zippers for the netting (side windows) came with the gazebo or are an add on?

They came with the Clam. I have since moved to a different model that has the roof sewn in but no zippers. Honestly, I never used them.

I see on the floor some alvantor sand bags, did you also buy an alvantor pop-up tent? Can you show it to us?

Good eye. That's from my first tent. I kept them to add some weight to the bottom of the Clam - to minimize cat escapes.

I love my clam shelter. I believe you said you have a floor. Is it a bathtub floor and where did you get it?

I have no idea what you mean by bathtub floor. It came with the Clam shelter. Only available with the larger size. It is secured at each corner and Velcros into the sides.

I think you probably need a smaller model. too big and heavy for you. I figured right away that it was user error. I love my clam

Not at all too big and heavy. Smaller models don’t have a floor, a must with cats.

So this spring we bought one of these bad boys for camping. This week in a storm every anchor point ripped out. Every one. I called customer service and they said it’s not a manufacturer issue. They don’t warrant for weather events. I asked what is it supposed to shelter us from if not weather. No reply. They said these are not to be left unattended or up in inclement weather. I asked if I am in it and it starts raining I have to take it down in the bad weather? They said yes. I said both your product and your customer service are shit. Do not buy one.

Ouch! When the wind gets fierce, I push the sides in and keep it collapsed on the ground. Sorry that happened.
