Fixing my titanium brigandine (coat of plate) on a budget! And Sew Awl tutorial

I have a heavy wool blanket that is near the same color as my brig. I went to the fabric store and got some duck canvas linen and glued them together with rubbery fabric glue. Creating a lazy man's brigandine fabric shell. Then I just cut out squares and manually sew it in with black thread. The end result is a fabric patchwork look that is very endearing, it looks like a old hand me down that mom fixed up just before sending their son to war. Luckily most of the tears aren't that big or hard to fix/reach from the inside.
