In September, I went swimming off the coast of Anguilla with my S22 Ultra. Got a ton of great footage. Later that night, the charge port gave me the "water detected" error when plugging my phone in. It was basically puking salt and sand. It may have even had a crab living in it. I didn't have access to a wireless charger. But I did have a full bottle of rubbing alcohol. I doused the entire phone, paying special attention to the charge port. By morning, it charged like normal. However, the S pen refused to work; for 3 weeks. Assuming I had killed my pen, after 3 weeks or so, it randomly started working again like nothing ever happened. Entire phone has been fine since the first week of October. It's just a phone and it's only money. Phones can be replaced and more money can always be made. Life's too short to worry about things that won't matter in a year - or ten. Great video, btw 👍

agreed, he also needed waaaay more heat to get that front screen off on the donor phone, but tbf he did say that afterwards. Those Ifixit gel things are pretty useless IME, a proper heating pad that he could have left the phone on for a while (or even just using a heat gun) would have been optimal but obviously I understand why everything wasn't exactly "optimal" in this video haha. Did this exact fix today at work, work at a Ubreakifix repair shop. For those wondering, a inner screen + labor on this is typically a $600 repair, so he got it done for much less getting a donor and using a friend. Nice work on the repair! An opening pick is typically preferred for disconnecting flex connectors but overall very well done. Also using about 75 C of heat for 10 minutes makes that outer screen and daughterboard easier to remove. Loosens the adhesives.

It's just 5 minutes at 72c for the top heating plate and 64c on the bottom heating plate then you use suction and cut the adhesive once it lifts. Since the USB-C connector was submerged in salt water, there might be some corrosion on the connectors. So you either could change the board from the other phone, or since you don't have anything to lose give it a very good brushing with a good old and hard ESD safe brush. Those brushes are like magic when phones decide to be... special... on USB connections, at least in my experience.

doesn't explain the wireless charger not working though (I wouldn't think)... also the phone was turned on by plugging a charger into USB port so I guess it's at least partially working... not saying you are wrong just some considerations

Just quietly listening to Dan narrate as he disassembles the phone was so soothing.

People who fix phones are something else, it's like they've deliberately made them as frustrating in construction as possible.

Hoping for more videos where Dan is the main host. His voice is so soothing and he's so good on camera. ❤

My mom has sent it to the "professionals" (an official repair shop, according to the carrier) when her screen randomly cracked after a few months of use and after a week she got it back with 3 additional dents (probably some idiot have dropped it) and a 800€ bill for still in warranty screen replacement. So yeah I would probably go with an uncle who knows stuff next time.

This may be one of the top 10 LTT videos, between Dan hosting, the pacing being amazing, and the topic is engaging, this video is a masterpiece.

The PR team likely told him to lay low for 3-6months after the GamersNexus issue

Maybe if you balanced the batteries using a bench power supply, before putting them back, maybe it would charge fine. The fact that it recognizes the USB cord but does not continue charging tells me something about the battery

I usually skip the sponsor part, but Dennis is a genius, so I had to watch them.
