Very helpful.....our bolts were actually just standard Phillips screws....everyone I have seen working on them it's the T20. We went out and bought the secure driver and didn't even need it lol.

Great video… I was very apprehensive about opening the motor up but you made it understandable and relatable…. Thanks

Excellent video I did exactly what you said and it went great. Do I have to clean out any grease in there before putting in the mobile 28? I have 1700 miles on mine and it started making a grinding noise when I throttled from a dead stop. After opening it up there's not much grease left in there.

Yea smart idea notching the gear. And that is real good information too. Thanks alot. Now when my motor gets loud I know what to do.

It looks like the gear Gloster after 3,000 miles could be changed. Some of the teeth on the gears have seen better days and I wonder about chain stretching? All things to consider when doing this kind of maintenance.

Curious, after that noise was the hub spinning or not spinning?

4:09 the very best grease to use is Molykote PG-75 which is hard to find in small pots (UK shop does 30ml pots that is enough for 2-3 services). This is because some grease is petroleum based and softens the nylon gears causing them to fail early.

Excellent How-To, Stan! Thank you!

I use Lucas Red N Tacky grease because it is a lithium base grease, so it is safe for nylon gears. Far better than the white stuff. I THINK IT IS THE BEST BECAUSE IT IS MEANT NOT TO SLING OFF!

But Olive Oil - while digestible for eating - is a poor lube for these gears.

My e-bike motor had Philips screws not security torx. I use an "impact driver" to break them free. I was also getting strange noise from motor only sometimes when giving the motor power. I didn't see a clear issue when i took motor apart, but found some thick dark grease, which I cleaned out and replaced with mobil 28. I also replaced the one way clutch and nylon gears with a whole new gear set. I'm now just waiting on a new tire to arrive because the old one was bald after 2000 miles and I hope everything will be like new.

As soon as Stan drops a vid, I drop everything. Great job. It looks like the motor is the small one. I wish I had your low gear. Mine gives me plenty of clearance to take the screws out. Larger motors and bigger controllers use more juice. More speed equals less distance. But I would like the bigger motor for mine. Just because u have it doesn’t mean u have to use it. I am sure not many people accumulate the miles u do. U r a true “rat” in the best of ways!! Super channel!!!! Thank u Stan!!

@@stanthereservoirrat5934 U r the one that keeps us going!! I have used a number of your suggestions. The one about the little electric pump was real good. I let the tires down to 9 or so in the rough stuff. As soon as I get back to the road I go up to 16. Handles way better. You’re info on the switches and batteries was also great!

Stan, you ever have to reglue magnets inside motor, I've seen j b weld used. Thank you. Great idea on the grinding of first gear. I will definitely use that...👍

the white grease that was in the motor before was not lithium grease, it was most likely a syntetic teflon grease

Definitely a shengyi motor. You didn't clean out the old grease before applying the 28? How much power you pushing from the motor?

It's a Rad, so it's 500 Watt nominal 750 Watt peak even though Rad markets it as a 750 Watt motor. You can see in the video that it's smaller than a Bafang 750 watt motor.

Hi Stan, Can you please do a video on adjusting the Radrover brakes so they don't squeal? Mine are driving me crazy. I can't seem to get them all the way quiet. Thanks, Steve G.
@markburton52922 жыл бұрын
breaks squealing are usually due to contamination, you can try using break clean on them if that does not work change out the pads
