So in resume; if I wanna go from 48v to 72v I would need.... a 72v battery, a controller that can deal with that voltage (or upgrading the capacitators/mosfets of the one I have), a thicker phase cable (like you are doing), and... Telling to the display that the wheel size is smaller than actually is, so it sends more voltage, correct? That's a lot of work! It's incredible you managed to do it.

Jerry, it's really simple nowadays to build a battery, even without soldering, & they have kits that you just push the batteries into & bolt all together. Your definitely a smart enough dude to take it on, & you'd get 35-70 miles on 48v/20ah battery, depending on the weight of bike & passenger together

Can I build an 108v some odd battery? I want to know what my limitations are on that end. I ride a 48v 500w ebike, I know I'd have to change the controller units. And probably a motor upgrade if I want that balls to the wall.
@JamiePineappleWyatt
@JamiePineappleWyatt 4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, sick job on the phase upgrades! You should get your hands on some nice thick copper wire and re wind your motor too, you can get much better power through them with a little more copper density, also don't forget to replace a plastic gear with a metal one on your planetary clutch, it'll stop you from shredding your gears long term ;) Your phase wire upgrade means your windings will get introduced to more current and voltage (efficiency boost) So it makes sense that the windings could heat up more now than previously. (If you're keeping the power low its not much of an issue, but you seem to be the type that would like to juice things a little harder, like myself)

Im sorry to say that just by using a thicker phase wires one can never ever double the motor power. Never. To be able to have a more powerful motor system you need to upgrade the controller with a more powerful one so it allows more current to flow towards the motor otherwise your thicker wires wouldnt do you any good. In some cases some smarter controllers can be specifically programmed to deliver more current to the motor resulting an increase in power but judging by the looks of your controller I very much doubt that is of that type.

CHANGE to a geared hub motor if you want more torque, thats the only way to get more torque, as its a direct motor to hub assembly, also upgrade to flat pack lithium cells that provide 40 or 60amps continuous. my pack can push 200amps but my controller only needs 20 amps and it pushes that uphill max and i have no voltage sag. cylindical cells suck thats why most EV vehicles use flat packs, actually my battery is built with those cells worth every penny. i have 36v 2.5kw 70ah per cell, max speed flat throttle only on 20in wheels is 15mph the best part is on hills i maintain 12mph uphill at 20amps.

I burn my hub motors going up long mountain roads. They just bog down and overheat, especially in the summer sun. Increasing power would only make it worse. Need more torque AND to increase cooling! Probably need lower gearing for more torque.

So if you are going to set up the hub motor to allow more current flow, you need more current flow. You can do a shunt mod on your controller. KZbin will show you. Also, prob need to add some heat sinks to hub and maybe some ferrofluid to magnets.

@@JerryMinne dumb question here, but how do some people that have a 72v battery get their bike going upwards of 80, and one even close to 90 miles per hour? Obviously they have different motors but my question is what exactly is required to go fast? Is it all about the gearing? Like people on surrons have 72v batteries and a BAC4000 or BAC8000 controller but like in the end, what is required to reach high speeds? A beefy battery, a high amp controller, and a way to keep your motor cool? Do some motors just max out at a certain internal rpm? Or is it the gearing of the motor that holds it back? I have heard some on KZbin talk about overvolting motors and that “in theory” an electric motor has no limit besides it burning up. If this is really true I’m wondering why people aren’t going 50mph on cheap motors. Is it not enough torque and wind resistance so they reach terminal velocity at a much lower speed? Or does it all come down to voltage and the controller?

I burn my hub motors going up long mountain roads. They just bog down and overheat, especially in the summer sun. Increasing power would only make it worse. Need more torque AND to increase cooling! Probably need lower gearing for more torque.

That's the 500w motor that's set to natively deliver 750w. You've been scammed through false advertising.

I'm probably scammed too although it has engraved 48v 1000w on the hub but it's way smaller(it looks like the same size as in this video) than a regular rim 26" 1000w 48v that I had in the past

Did you see how small is the Tesla motor? Same type of motor but incredibly small for the power it can make.

So if you change the battery to a 80 watt how much is an 80 watt battery? And don't you need a new controller if you do that? And I really like those tires they look like on off-road tires and I've not been able to find any where did you get those tires? I want tires like that and it won't make so much speaking noise like mine I have a 2020 ecotric Hammer bike I have 600 miles on it. Being disabled with one leg this bicycle saved my freaking life saved my life I have no other way to transport myself

6ah 80v battery is about $140. You need controller that supports 72v system.

Let a technician install a rechargeable battery 🔋 system on it. Can even use this to produce electricity 💡 for a house 🏠 by hooking up a converter and battery 🔋 bank .

@@JerryMinne It is easy bro just do some research right here on youtube or good, then ask a technician and you will save a lot of electricity bills 💵. Starting off with a battery bank ( like six four or batteries 🔋, a sensor on and off switch, a convertor and envirtor. However asked more than one technician how it is built before having them do it for you.

sorry jerry but there is one thing wrong with your theory. it is the controller that dictates how much power a hub motor recieves. not the thickness of the wire. people, this is alot of work for nothing
@JerryMinne
@JerryMinne 3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. The controller controls the speed, of course, but not the way you think. As I said the controller controls speed not the current. The controller has limitation on current but actually control it. For example, when motor has heavy load like climbing hill, you give full throttle, so the controller has maximum output, but the motor try to drink more current. in that situation, if you have thin wires, the wires burn out, if you replaced thicker wires but has small controller, the controller burn out.
