Great idea! I think one way this could be built on, to add some flexibility back in, would be explicit additional forms that you can make for yourself at higher levels. Just spitballing, but something like 2 forms at 7th, 3 at 14th, and maybe at 20 it's just "however many you wanna take time to make". Or maybe Moon Druids might get an ability called "Mercurial Form" that allows them to hot-swap a feature with an action or something like that. Or maybe that could be handled through a Wild Feature? Where the Mercurial Form Feature is essentially a placeholder that you can use to quickly swap something in, which allows you to react to a given scenario quicker? and then you'd have to take a long rest to reconfigure your form and add that mercurial form back if you want. Great thing about this way is that you'd only need to engage with it if you wanted to - aka were experienced enough. Another Moon Druid feature idea - Crescent Claws, which would make your melee attacks count as Silvered? Because Wildshape damage is just physical. I'm rambling because I think this is a genuinely great approach to take - the additional layer of abstraction is legit great. A story that I'm a fan of kinda did a similar thing with 'Arcane Shifting', wherein you copy one specific creature, can modify that template over time, and only when stronger do you learn to get multiple templates or partially shift or anything like that. Though I will say, I think Druid remains an odd class at odds with itself. While not as bad as Ranger, Druid also seems unsure of it's core fantasy and torn between the angle of spellcasting and wildshape, which isn't helped when one prevents the other - and rightfully so for balance reasons, but it does make it tough. Though I think, for better or worse, Wild Shape no longer giving extra health is a good first step towards fixing some of that. Though I dislike the existance of Channel Nature; feels like it makes Druid waay to busy. Clerics have spellcasting and Channel Divinity, sure, but Druids effectivley have spellcasting, Channel Nature, and Wild Shape.

Yeah I think the busy-ness was a big issue of mine in the new Druid. I also definitely agree about the imbalance between core fantasies. I think I lean more towards wild shape being the core fantasy specifically because it's unique from just "nature spellcaster". I would much prefer wild shape to be the core of the class, and then something like circle of land to buff out spellcasting from there. Also very cool ideas!!! I especially like the Mercurial form, swapping features without leaving wild shape would be baddass

When I imagined getting to pick you're abilities in wild shape I was thinking more like the totem barbarian, I hadn't even thought of warlock invocations but that's a way more fun(and min-maxable😄) way to do it. Overall great job on this I just showed it to a few party members and they said it was cool aswell 👍.

Thank you so much!!! It was a blast to make :D I also think that there is probably a middle ground between mine and OneD&D's that resembles totem barb, but I'm definitely happy with where I landed. Some of them are a little wonky, but fun overall ^_^
