I just had this done, my 2005 3.5L Magnum (106k) threw a EGR code. Had it replaced but acted up next day with the lightning bolt icon which could be throttle body but turned out to be a vacuum leak, from the hose you had some much of an issue with. That fitting is very fussy and it took some effort to get it to seat right, even with the plenum off. Thanks for the vid.

My mechanic did not charge me for the fix but did try to drill down to the BAS code, which after the vacuum leak, always appeared with the lightning bolt. Now if it appears, there should be no corollary code. The BAS sensor is in the console, I understand, and is no longer manufactured. I guess it reacts to various g forces, yaw and pitch to control brake application in a stability issue. The first time it appeared was in a full-throttle pass with controlled lane changes. Now intermittent, and has not come on for several days. Here's hoping.

Let me add an update, I have no more codes appear, about a month now, so it appears the BAS code was related in some way to the EGR prompt.

I did this on my 300 a year a go and now started leaking again , so I'm going to use carb cleaner and put another blob on it.

There is a blue gasket inside that pipe, that you put that gasket seal around. It's basically a O ring..

How strongly recommend before removing anything with the EGR system buying the gaskets as well as any seals that you will need before breaking it apart. Because sometimes a $7 fixed like the one he did will not work all the time

Yes, this will definitely make it run rough and idle rough. I chased these systems for several months. Took to 2 shops including Dodge. Fed me a bunch of BS and took my money. Read up on it and a leaking/bad EGR valve will cause this. It bypasses some of the exhaust gases creating a vacuum leak all the time. This will make it run lean, run rough and die at idle at lights. Not fun. Initially, my EGR was bad, leaking swapped it out and it helped but got P0406. Thought, okay, bad EGR valve again. Swapped it again and got the code again. The second time I swapped it from underneath the car where I could actually see what I was doing. One of the EGR bolts was stripped out most likely causing a leak. Now, to swap out an EGR valve, the easiest way is to remove the intake manifold. This is not that bad especially if you use a 1/4" impact driver with a 3/8" socket adapter on it. You can have the intake off in 15 minutes. On some cars you have to remove the bolts from the cross brace so it will move out of the way The is supposed to be a blue cupped seal that goes on this tube. Not terribly expensive, $5. The trick is installing in in the right direction. The open part of the cup should face towards the flange on the pipe You do not need to remove the pipe first. Just lift the front of the intake up and wiggle forward while using the other hand to pull the pipe rearward. Once the intake is off, you can easily access the EGR valve. Install a new seal, then install the intake the same way you removed it. Get it close to the tube, lift up on the front and start the tube in the hole being sure it goes in squarely. If not, you will tear the seal and your'e back to square one. Work the tube all the way into the intake manifold until it hits the flange or really close to it. Then drop the front of the intake and align the bolt holes. Of you don't lift the front of the intake, ita almost impossible to install without tearing the seal. If you teat or install the seal backwards, the engine vacuum will suck it right into the engine. It won't hurt anything since its soft rubber but you'll still have a leak.

"Code P0406 means that the EGR Valve Position Sensor is giving voltage readings that are too high, usually above the 4.0 - 4.5 voltage range." Possible fix: Replace EGR valve, clean the tube from carbon deposits and replace the gaskets on the tube

is there supposed to be a little hole that sucks in air near egr tube, when i try to block the hole the car's idle goes haywire, its not in tube itself, its near the area where the tube goes into. Also do you know what the tube is called that's located to the right of egr?

Please see follow-up/update video; this was a temporary fix to stop a vacuum leak without having to rip everything apart to get to it. Later on I also had to replace the EGR valve itself (it was dirty), so pulled off the gasket maker and put in a proper tube seal. Thanks for watching!
