Just got done doing this. Pretty difficult, but its doable. Didn't help that I'm only 5'7" and not as flexible as I used to be. I did not remove the hood, and I had to keep climbing on top and laying on the engine in order to work on this, and the bolts are a serious pain in the ass. Goodluck, don't give up, guys. And thanks for the video, it saved a ton of time.

I tried my hardest to remove the egr valve without having to take off the intake - I could not do it - me personally I think the easiest way to get to the egr valve is by taking off the intake manifold and also by doing this you can inspect the intake manifold gasket and service the spark plugs too - I have a 2006 dodge magnum sxt

Hi there, i have a egr block if i gun it above 140mph (drag race days only) but anything under that speed the car has no issue. Is it possible to clean an egr? Does that cylinder shell come away?

I did it! Man you really got to get creative removing that valve! I almost gave up a few times! Once u remove it the worst is behind you because by then you already figured out where your hand placement goes

Unplug battery for few minutes. Reconnect, start vehicle when all done. Let idle for ten min. Let computer re learn.

I just finished replacing this egr valve on my 2008 Dodge Charger 3.5L. And do remove the cowling and wiper motor/gears, you will need the room! I had to lay on top of the engine from the drivers side to get to the 4 bolts. For the egr tube bolts, you can use a 8mm combo wrench to loosen and tighten back on. Much easier than a ratchet. Took about 2 hours but save hundreds of $$$ and my 0406 code is gone!

Does it matter what side you install the gasket? It has a lip and I don't know if it goes facing the EGR or the engine.

Replaced my egr valve and had the CEL cleared at my local auto parts store. At low rpms in first gear the engine starts to stutter and eventually died under acceleration (appr. 1200-1500 rpms). If I continue to accelerate it stays running. Any help here? Check engine light did come back as well.

No it is not, and this task is way easier on the 5.7. If you are under the hood, it’s on the left side just in front of your valve cover

Yes I saw this video after replacing mine I did half the work from the top removing the manifold only and finished removing the egr valve from the bottom it helps to disconnect a couple of wires as you see fit for better access just remember to reconnect

This happened to me and I was getting throttle body codes, I cleaned out the throttle body and checked for vacuum leaks. I ended up also changing a hose from the air filter to the engine. And that fixed the problem. Also make sure the sensor to the throttle body is connected completely.

Can a bad egr valve cause engine to vibrate above 40mph?

The title of this video is inaccurate. You are working on a 3.5L V6, not the 5.7L V8. These are two completely different engines. The EGR placement on the 5.7L V8 is on the front of the engine near the throttle body, and does NOT require the removal of the hood, wiper assembly, and is half of the work described here.

have you come across a video showing the location of this on the 2006-10 5.7L V8 chargers? I have the same symptoms and i have already replaced the throttle body. my next bet is this but i was led to believe the EGR was towards the back of the engine near.

TEA GUMBY I have the exact issue and I've replaced about 2 grand worth of parts trying to fix this. Computer was the biggest ticket so far smh..I only have the throttle body and egr valve left to replace. Its located in the front on the left..def Alot easier than this video..I got the 2006 charger 5.7L by the way.. I wish I would of done this before everything else..Dealership kept saying they couldn't find a issue with it on their computers so I never knew to check it until I did the research..Lesson Learned lol
