Hey great tip. My 65 c20 was doing the same. Must of happened to the original owner. He had the roll pin in, loose, but had a bent wire to hold it in. Sprayed some blast and it’s working great. Next going to adjust the linkages like your other vid. Thanks. Dave 👍

I have a 71 Bronco need help with shifter linkage
@terrydobbs81267 жыл бұрын
Update; my grommets were wore out and I didn't think they made that much difference but after fusing with it for years I finally bought and installed them on the linkage arms and that made a huge difference.
@lukeFugate7 жыл бұрын
Terry Dobbs I would say mine are worn pretty bad too, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change them out.

Have you ever seen a 3 on the tree with a reverse knob in the floor? I have a feeling mine is a 4 speed swap but I just can't find the 4th gear. Did it ever come from factory like that? It's a 72 g10. I can't find any information anywhere other than people talking about 4 speed swaps
@lukeFugate4 ай бұрын
I have never heard of that. Seems like something someone has made. Could be interesting if it turns out to be a four speed. Should be able to identify the transmission by the bolt pattern on the shift cover.
@RatsnRods4 ай бұрын
@@lukeFugate I just drove it a lil further than before and I am pretty darn sure I found a 4th gear, of course I forgot to look at the tranny

I have a 69 Chevy g10 van. It isn’t hard to pull back like yours is but yet when I shift it’s sounding super old and squeakier than it used to be. Would this take care of that issue for me ?

It should help. May need lubricated out under the hood too.

Could you please do a video on a floor shift conversion? I really want to keep my C10 all original but want to do away with the column shifter
@lukeFugate3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I never have converted one. I guess at some point this shifter will wear out and I will have to but it shifts fine for now. I think it is a pretty straightforward conversion though , just a shift lever that goes trough the floor and hooks to the linkage on the trans.

I still got 2nd and 3 gear. What broke in there? And can i get or fabricate new part or rig it up some how. Help.

When you move the shifter up and down in the first and reverse position does anything move under the hood?

I only added one drop of oil to the clevis pin and wah-lah. I don't know why you would take the whole thing apart.
@lukeFugate8 жыл бұрын
Most of the time its not the pin that is binding. It's the inside part that doesn't want to slide so you have to get lubrication to the inside.

luke Fugate i have a 68 gmc c10 n my shifter is stuck and it has me stuck lol its been sitting for a couple of years im stuck in between a rock and a hard spot do u have any tips to free it up
@lukeFugate8 жыл бұрын
Loosen the adjustment all the way up until you have the biggest gap you can and try to move the shifter to the center. Then you can do the alignment in the video. Hope this helps.
@tdplans4u3778 жыл бұрын
Be sure to oil that clevis pin also. Only took one drop and a truck that the previous owner had struggled with all his might to shift for years was now like brand new, smooth as butter.
@tdplans4u3778 жыл бұрын
The clevis pin is only about 1/8th of an inch thick and is what holds your lever to the steering column. You can see it when seated and looking at the base of the shift lever. It poses no problem to moving the lever up and down, only when pulling the lever back or forward crossing shift lanes on the H pattern.

How bout a three on the Floor?

Have never worked on one of those. I'm sure there are linkage adjustments though. Perhaps on the transmission end.

I guess I prefer a bench seat on a column shift pickup.
@lukeFugate4 жыл бұрын
I hear you there. As a kid I remember this truck having a bench seat and I sat in the middle beside my dad and my mom sat on the passengers side. Dad would let me shift sometimes, good memories. The seat got worn out form many miles of driving and had to be replaced, so I found this one in an old 2000 Silverado. I have thought I may go back to a bench if I can find one in good shape.
