Please spell out the name of your other youtube channel. NOW for the tracker. Your self on the door. Take the door panel off and check how deep it is. find a pan that will fit in the opening. So you have door cavity depth + thickness of the Shelf = pan depth . To drain it valve on the side. I had a Montero and this how I did my bed. ( split seat ) I took 1/2 the back seat out. So when I got up I could just slide into the other seat.

I subscribed a while back because of your car conversion the most amazing part for me was I seem to remember you had a deal where the car would come on at night when you were camping if it got hot inside and turn the engine on to run the air conditioner. There is a whole bunch of people that purchased the Toyota Prius because it will turn on the air conditioner while they are camping in it and I never saw anybody else do what you did. I'm surprised your video or videos you made on your car conversion did not get a lot more views because you were doing stuff that nobody else was doing on KZbin I think I'm going to watch whatever videos you make because you always make interesting stuff but if I was trying to get the most views I would do a car camper based on a car that is very popular and there are a lot of them out there. Whatever car or SUV or truck you decide on I hope you include the capability to have the air conditioning come on when you're camping at night. I think more people should know about that option.
@lukeFugateКүн бұрын
I could definitely incorporate that into the camper. I need to get the AC working on this one though. as of yet it doesn't work. Might be a simple fix though like an o ring or something. It would be pretty easy on this one as there is no security system. I would have to bypass the clutch safety switch though. The heat will use a diesel heater I've become a big fan of them.

Great idea to turn the Tracker into a camper Luke. I like the rooftop tent idea, as well as the rear door kitchen. I'd recommend using a shower/privy tent instead of one inside, to have more privacy and eliminate odors as well as an easy place to shower. I'm looking forward to what you come up with for this conversion.
@lukeFugateКүн бұрын
Yeah, the shower tent is a good idea. I have one of those....somewhere lol. It was very handy when camping in the van. I like the idea of the rooftop tent too. I may do an inside sleeping version first for an example for people who are interested in stealth camping. I figured out an extremely easy way to convert the inside to a bed, but it will take up most of the interior. I'll be doing the rooftop tent afterward. I'm gathering materials now.

I remember that Cavalier camper. It would be fun to see you convert the Tracker into a camper - it definitely would be a more comfortable home than a Cavalier, anyway :)
@lukeFugateКүн бұрын
I know, that Cavalier was a little rough to sleep in! I’m excited to get started on the Tracker project. I have a few things in mind to make it comfortable.

Some vehicles will allow you to fill and release air from the tires to set them. This one unfortunately needs the special tool.

I really enjoy all your builds. This one is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Having the limits of the little vehicle will make for some interesting work-arounds. It's going to be fun to see what you do. All the best to you, Luke.

Yep, it will be a little cramped but I think it will be fun and functional.

I would love to see you do this! I've done some stuff to mine like get the roof racks off a newer model tracker out of the boneyard and install them on my roof. I think I sent you a picture of that with the basket on top and the off-road lights etc that thing is so big I think you can put a twin bed up there. I had also built kind of a platform inside with space underneath to slide some small totes under. I have space for a very small 12 volt refrigerator and I just use a pop-up tent for a toilet shower area. I actually got an awning for it and it has a drop-down room you can add to it for more space. Campervan Kevin on KZbin put a rooftop tent on one of his four doors I think You are so innovative and have such great ideas I would like to see your take on this project. And rather than looking for another vehicle or something else and spending money you've got this at hand. I think it would be great especially since it's a 4 by 4 too!
@lukeFugateКүн бұрын
I think my first build will utilize the platform inside method. I accidentally figured out that the front seats fold all the way back and figured a platform could be easily made to make it a pretty big bed inside. Sounds like you have a pretty good setup, I remember the picture. I'll probably try to make some homemade racks to mount the tent to. I do remember Keven has had several of these through the years. He seems to like them.

What happened to the mini bus that you converted to a Camper Bus ? I personally would much rather you build another mini bus out, or, even better yet, find a retired Ambulance like I did, and convert it to a Camper.
@lukeFugate2 күн бұрын
@kevinswinyer3176 I ended up trading it to my son so they could make a food truck out of it. I've thought about building a slide in type Camper for my Silverado. Might be a while for that though.
@kevinswinyer31762 күн бұрын
@lukeFugate you should really look into finding, and purchasing a retired box type Ambulance, and convert it over. They are built quite rugged, and already have the heat & AC and electric installed, plus they have tons of storage space, both inside, and outside.
@lukeFugate2 күн бұрын
@kevinswinyer3176 that would be really nice. I had also considered getting a full size bus, but my road is the limiting factor. The bus I had barely made it in some places and it was probably kind of rough on it.

Drill a hole in the oil cap and run a hose that you can buy at home Depot from the cap to vent fumes it at the bottom of the engine

I just did this mod to my 2015 equinox. I’m getting a loud whistle noise from my oil cap/check valve that I installed. When I have load on the engine (gas pedal presses) the whistle stops. When I left off the gas pedal or just sitting at a light the whistle comes back on. Any suggestions?
@lukeFugate7 күн бұрын
Sounds like a vacuum leak. check where it is sealed in the oil cap and possibly the hose. Also check the seal on the oil cap. It could also be whistling through the original PCV hole in the intake, it could need cleaned out.

Yeah, generally I won't buy anything that isn't old enough to have historic plates on it. This was given to me, so I guess I'll maintain it as long as it will last. All modern vehicles have way too much extra stuff on them, I don't think You will get 50 years of use out of anything made today, it's all junk. Not to mention the styling of modern vehicles is horrible. Sad really.

Luke, l did this oil cap modification like your video,and after doing this, l noticed a weird noise coming from the engine, it goes away when l pull out the oil dip stick or l open the oil cap, l have no clue what this noise is, do you have any suggestions what it could be? Looking forward to hearing back from you. Thanks. Mike.
@lukeFugate18 күн бұрын
Is it like a whistling noise? If so, it could be the pcv hole is partly clogged in the intake. the vacuum is probably pulling air through it.

The foam sheet costs more than plywood, what's the point? Titebond 2 is cheaper than polyester resin but not by enough to bother.

It is now, used to be cheaper. The weight savings was what I was looking for in this case. Plywood would have been way too heavy.
