This must be a very common issue. Mine started doing this on my 08' Tundra a few years ago. It's very frustrating. Thanks for making the video, I'll be doing this repair tonight

I found video useful for starting. My 2007 Tundra had 4 screws holding the center cup holder. Remove two screws on front lower part of cup holder (right abovtil it pops out and the cupholder will come out. From thier I followed video to remove the Aux jack modual and put in a new one from Amazon ($31 tax and shipping included). Jack works great now. total fix time 35 minutes which included finding the 4 screws and taking it slow. Thanks Dave

Great discovery and fix. I was toying with dropping $200-300 on a new head unit just to have reliable auxiliary input via Bluetooth but I did this instead in 10 minutes and will go back to a $15 Bluetooth adapter.

Thanks so much! This fixed my aux jack on our Matrix, which was driving us crazy. We would eventually have had an accident plugging/unplugging our cable while driving, so we're really grateful!

Thanks this helped me realize it wasn't the aux button that was nonfunctional but instead the aux input.

just noticed mine wasn't working today and followed this video. Seems to be working fine now. I had to pry the ciggie lighter panel off with a flat head screwdriver. Came in from the bottom passenger side. then man handle it straight out. The tabs on the aux in module are on the top and bottom so I could only push the bottom one in but I was still able to yank it out. I didn't add much solder I just "reflowed" what was there. Thanks Tanner.

Thanks for the detail.. I have a question along the lines of your video. When I pulled the insert out I noticed 2 other wires not connected.. what could I use those for? Thx

I just did the same repair on a 2008 xB. At least on mine, the radio uses pins 8 and 9 to determine if a cable is plugged in. With nothing plugged in, there's some resistance between the two. With a cable in place, there's continuity. I wound up soldering the two pins together, so now I can switch to the aux input regardless of whether anything is plugged in, and the car doesn't intermittently switch off of that input.

Hey, my solder joints do look fine, nothing seems wrong with the circuit board. Any suggestions?
@TannerTech8 жыл бұрын
The problem could be inside the jack, in that case, you might need to buy a new one and solder it in. The problem could also be within the amplifier.

I slid a small hook tool under and behind the bottom edge of the panel, twisted 45 degrees to bring the hook straight-up (vertical) and then just pulled straight back. I repeated this on the left and right sides and it popped out the panel with no scratches or broken plastic clips. Another tip - let the soldering iron spend some time on each point of the circuit board. This lets the solder melt deeper into the cracked connections for a better fix.

Hi Tanner Tech, I have a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE and I am having a same problem that my aux is not being detected. Everything else works. I believed it was the aux port with some loose connection which I can solder. However, to my surprise, the aux post is perfectly fine. I ever verified it with a new aux port. I have verified that there is no problem with the music source, aux cables (tried multiple), aux port (tried with a new one as well), what else could be the issue. Could it be at the stereo end? I can't switch to aux mode even from the steering wheel.

I ordered a new circuit board and installed it, still doesn’t work. Is it possible my cable is the problem?
@sozonpv4 жыл бұрын
yeah this is not my problem either, not sure what's causing it to fault out, i just wiggle it while swerving on the road to get it to work. i wish it were this easy. The problem is elsewhere. Did you ever figure yours out?

I got a better cable. It worked for awhile but now it’s starting to cut out pretty bad. Not impressed with the quality of my Tacoma. Overrated
