The knife arm should always be on top. That cutter bar was looked correct but you would have needed to replace all the guards and hold downs, cause they make specific ones for bolt-on sections or for riveted sections and there would be extra tall hold downs for where the knife arm runs.

Interesting. The old one was a bolt on so maybe someone changed something before but ended up rigging it originally hence why I had to do what I did. Thanks for the info!

I wonder if those are aftermarket guards on your mower cause I can't say I've seen one's like that. Usually the guard and hold down are separate but yours seem to be combined.

Yes they are combined I thought that myself that it looked completely different then what I’ve seen on other 1209s
