I have been trying to fix this exact issue on mine for hours!! Never thought the wire might have just snapped exactly where yours did! Must be a common issue. Thanks 👍

You only said oops twice. For a Land Rover job, I would say that is a big success! Thanks for the video!

Haha, no one was more surprised than me with how smooth it actually went haha

Would you believe the same issue on the same door has happened to my defender?! Gonna have a look in the next few days. Very helpful.

Seems to be very common, but thankfully an easy fix!

Same here! Did you manage to fix it?

I’m the same both rear doors, couple of meters is thicker gauge wire, hopefully cleared up the issue. Is it correct when the doors are all closed, no horn sound, only when a door is open, does the horn sound?

This is very helpful. Both of my back doors have done this! Was it both your doors also as they might be linked, or will they both need to be done separately?

Glad the video is helpful, mine was just the single door

My defenders rear door lock by central locking butt wont open only by key are the lock itself worned out already?.
@patricktracey260611 ай бұрын
In my experience the locks get ‘locked up’ from lack of use - ie using the key fob rather than inserting key manually. Some wd40 applied with straw so it gets in deep then wiggle around with key, repeat a few times if necessary might do the trick

With your circumstances it could be worth picking up a little gas soldering iron. They are no good for proper soldering jobs, but fine for joining wires together and you won't have to worry about power. I even keep one in my emergency tool kit on the Land Rover as you never know when you need to fix a bit of wiring in the field.

That’s not a bad idea! To be honest I didn’t even know they were a think - I’ll take a look 👍🏼 thanks for the comment

@@ScoutTheDefender ah ok! In that case I definitely recommend you check them out. I've had mine for about 20 years, and it just stays on my kit. The only reason they're no good for 'proper' soldering jobs is the temperature control is pretty poor, although you can regulate the gas supply to help with that. But I actually work in the electronics field and I wouldn't use one in a professional setting for assembling production PCBs with delicate components or something like that. But for soldering wires or doing repairs in the field they work just fine. I had a quick look and they seem to be a bit larger in size these days, mine is a very small one. They also can double as mini blow torches and you'll do a better job on your heat shrink with them.

@Scout the Defender final comment on this: I should add that you can also get 12V DC soldering irons. And they have the advantage of not bothering with gas. But decent ones are expensive and I found that for a rough and tumble tool kit that I keep on the Landy a gas one is better for that. But it's worth weighing up those two options for yourself.

Had this problem with my 110 Drivers window not working and had been "fixed" multiple times so ended up replacing all the wiring in the door. Second row one door wont work with the central locking and was the same problem so i replaced the wires where they brake all the time, it worked once then the actuator gave up so thats tomorrows problem lol
