Fixing the LEGO Batman the Animated Series Batmobile - BLUE vs BLACK

Today, I'm super excited to share with you all a video I've been working on for a while. I ordered all the pieces on LEGO Shop @ Home to transform the new LEGO Batman the Animated Series Batmobile (Batman™ with the Batmobile™ vs. Harley Quinn™ and Mr. Freeze™) from BLUE to BLACK!

I think they should've done black with dark blue on some of the edges as highlights, I think that would set it apart but still remain the original aesthetic of the BTAS batmobile

Ok that combo with blue on the top is for sure the most series-accurate, it's just like how it looks in that lighting and probably what Lego should have gone for.

From a non-BTAS fan: After looking at some reference picture i think that black is definitely more accurate, but I much prefer the dark blue. We've had so many black Batmobiles, the blue is just nice and refreshing.

Originally I thought this set would've been best in black. However, after seeing your combination of black with the top all in dark blue is amazing. You struck gold with that idea. It perfectly replicates the animation style and is now 100% the way that I'm gonna do mine. Honestly, it's how it should have been done.

Black is the accurate color, simple as that. I don't care that every other batmobile is black, they shouldn't make an 89 batmobile dark grey to be different just like they shouldn't make an BTAS batmobile dark blue

Thankyou! Don’t know why TLG thought it would be a good idea to make it blue! 😂 06:49 yeah that’s kind of how they used orange bricks on the new Barad Dur LOTR set to nightlight the black tower and give the illusion of the eye and the lava glowing and casting light onto the tower!

I think both work with their own pros and cons. I like the blue, because it's different from every other Lego Batmobile, and BTAS is the only theme that can technically get away with it in this colour.

the problem is lego needs more a darker blue closer to an indigo/black to make it more accurate the black is good but even the kenner toy was slightly grey

The blue top /black body mix is more authentic. Like from "Almost Got Him" . And matches his cowl coloring in the series.

Hmm that light trick with blue and black mixed is really working. The new Baraddur set has the same logic in the eye section, with black pieces of the tower flipped with browns.

The way i remember the vehicle was it rolling though the streets of Gotham and it would go from Dark Blue to Black as he passed street lights.

Two things: One) I don't know, I mean the black looks better, but... I don't know, I feel like the blue suits it a little bit more. Like the size of an atom better. Two) As of tonight, I am an official high school graduate! Even though it's one of the biggest moments in my life, I'm still overwhelmed by the fact that I'm leaving.

Personally I liked the choice to make it dark blue in the official set, it makes it unique and lets it stand out from all the other Batmobiles they ever made. But I gotta say it does look much more sleeker in pure black, it's such a great build and it looks better in black. Do LEGO not do variant sets? They could that for this, just duplicate the set, add a "-B" to the set's number or something and call it a different edition

Dark blue is accurate to the series. It's probably because of the lighting in the show, but the car is blue. For accuracy, dark blue is the right choice. For style, either color works pretty well.

I think for the official set there should be black shadows on the side. Not all blue, but also not all black(although that design you showed looks really cool!).

The blue looks like the original series, but this one looks like the re-designed series of season 3 I think. Cuz even his suit was blue in the first series but black in the follow up.

I believe it is blue. I was watching some episodes of the series, and I noticed that the Batmobile is clearly blue. And not even Dick Grayson's eyes, which sometimes appear blue and sometimes appear black.

I much prefer blue. It stands out and replicated the "look". Comic iron man is meant to be gold but its best to make him yellow. Batman's own cape, the inner dark blue. Its not meant to be double sides its just to replicate the look. Plus with all the mocs i think blue stands out. If i want black I'd pick a sleeker moc

Blue is more the color of the TAS related toys, but they should have gone with a darker shade, like the color used for the TARDIS and Optimus Prime.

I still feel like the older Batman cowl piece like the one they made for Batman v Superman, better represents his look in the animated series. Very few, if any Batman cowls have pronounced chinstraps, and the fact that Batman’s chin is exposed is one of the more defining aspects of the design of the Animated Batman.

As good as that all black custom looks, I'll have to just settle for the blue one. Highlighting the black one with the dark blue pieces looks sick tho. Now I'm wishing they made it black to begin with and gave us the dark blue highlights as stickers or prints to really sell the cartoon shaded look.

I prefer the blue one. I think it's too bright for the Batmobile, but apparently black makes it look very cheap (maybe because the other Batmobiles are mostly made of black), and the mixed colors in the second half look tacky from some angles. That's just my feeling. The official blue looks very stylish. I support the official color! (I have watched almost every episode of TAS, including the 00:30 episode!)
