This is the best video I've yet seen on the topic. I have a 2016 Touring Edition Accord and I've had the exact problem with the rear deck rattling from the base (aftermarket system). I've been through all sorts of hell with my installer getting this taken care of (at first I was told that there was nothing that could be done, if you can imagine that!). This video should be viewed by EVERYONE in the business.

John Weidman lol, what fucking hack doesn't know how to deal with panel resonance in a car.... SMFH.

Thank you. I have been searching for weeks on a true in-depth video showing the guts of the back panel for my Honda Civic SI 2018. This is what i needed to see. I have a whole JBL stadium component speaker system with custom sub enclosures that'll fit in the back trunk behind the wheel well.After the install I planned on sound deadening the whole damn thing. Cheers bro, thank you once again. I will give a side note, those speakers are absolutely atrocious if you see the voice coil lol.

I used the same stuff on my rear deck as well as underneath the trunk lid by the latch. So far I can say it only lasts about 3 years until you have to replace it. I ended up splurging and getting some dynamat for the rear deck (plus some nice bouncy 1/2" foam), trunk lid and a little bit of the rear section of the head liner near the interior clips. But to be fair this is with a 12" JBL10W3 slapping hard at 750watts for about 4 hours almost everyday.

Hey man. Thanks for the info. My wife just got a 2016 Civic Touring and we're having the same subwoofer rattle issues. We found an easy quick fix that hopefully you can share. It involves taking a piece of hard rubber (from a drum cymbal stand legs) and wedging it in the space in the space where the center brake light is located. It just happened to fit and I just pushed up there and the rattle went away. If you want me to show what's done, please let me know. Glad to share. This was a real annoyance and this is an easy fix.

Duuude, I just picked up my Accord EX-L and I ran to the back playing some bass heavy music and noticed that all I had to do was push down slighty on the deck near the brake light and the problem went away. so I was looking for my foam backing road to stick in there in the meantime and figured I'd look for a video to remove the whole thing and possibly add some dynamat (I have it laying around so why not) to it and reduce resonance even more. I'll try hard rubber if the backing foam doesn't help, it's fairly ridged for foam so I think that might work well.

Swampnutz10303 how did that work out? Did you find a permanent solution?

Thanks for this video, they really should fix this under warranty though, it's unacceptable. My wife just got one of these and it's a brilliant car with the exception of this rattle. The service departments have either claimed they can't hear it or not called back to get the car in to get it fixed. Honda service is terrible in Connecticut.

I'm going to be sure to check and see if they've fixed the subwoofer rattle on my final test drive before buying the touring. I'm planning to buy this sept/oct when my BMW lease is up.

Thank you for making that video....I've been through the same rattles.I have to go back in again and add more dander and foam too.It was making me think my sub box was not ported properly.

Yes I know that you can fix it a lot easier. A guy I work with used a sock and shoved it under the 3rd brake light. I said in the video that I just wanted to do it right and also add some sound proofing.

Home Garage hello, I have a bose system and the rear sub rattles... could I replace the sub with any aftermarket sub? Or do I need to replace the whole audio system?
@homegarage93507 жыл бұрын
Abdullah Eid not sure! Depends on the car and if it is a amplified system. If you want more low range (bass) you could add a sub box or replace your system with aftermarket
@3b3id7 жыл бұрын
Home Garage thanks!! I went to audioExpress and they said I'd need a whole new audio system if I wanted "just a new subwoofer" .. It's a stock system, and I just want to replace the sub and nothing else. I hate it that it rattles!!

Any tips for removing the rear bench? The tabs feel like they’re impossible to grip and remove!
@homegarage93502 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the bottom part of the seat, push down on the seat as you pull the latch to release.
@julianpark932 жыл бұрын
@@homegarage9350 I’ll try that. Thank you! I also have a civic touring and have added sound deadening to the doors but the rear wheel wells I hear is where a lot of noise seems to come from.

Do you have to remove the seats or can you just pull the seat down?
@magisterchief6 жыл бұрын
there's no reason to pull the rear seat you can get to the rear deck easily with the seat in place.

Andrew DeLorenzo I work at a Honda dealer. Talking to the techs, it is know that this is a issue for some people. There is no TSB or anything from Honda, but if you bring it in they will look at it and try to fix it.

The video is about fixing the rattle, not the speaker quality.
@Swampnutz103037 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't know why folks rag on the sound quality so much. When the rattle is tamed, the music sounds good at the drivers seat. It has a good amount of detail. It's not going to win any SPL awards, but it's balanced. It just doesn't go super deep but it gets deeper than the 6 speaker system without a sub. I think if the vehicle is dampened better it could sound much better. I know what much better sounds like and you don't get that in a vehicle for $25,500 (what I paid today for a 2017 Accord EX-L). I'm a happy camper since applying the fix. I was really concerned about that rattle. I hate dismantling new stuff.

Are you serious? These stock subwoofers, if you can call them that, don’t rattle anything on my 2018 Accord 2.0t touring, and shouldn’t be rattling your lower line civic. I don’t even hear the sub, will be upgrading my stock one with a Savard hi-q 8 inch in a ported box attached under the dash. These top of the line stock systems are crap, don’t need to take care of the tattling, cause they don’t make any.
@rgronlund634 жыл бұрын
too bad you do not know what you are talking about. The touring models absolutely rattle.
@ShadyDragon1995 жыл бұрын
Honestly all i did to stop my rattle is stuck a tennis ball inbetween the metal and plastic cover in the truck. Didn't remove anything. I have also wonder if putting a 8 inch speaker baffle on the oem sub would help with the bass

Fyi, my dealership said that my rear deck was warped and installed a brand new one. Granted, I'm in an Accord coupe touring, but same issue, same rear deck. Before the dealer replaced it, it was awful, now there's no rattle with a Rockford 10" p3. With a Rockford 500 watt amp. Now my headliner, that's a whole different animal. It rattles like it was made too. I have no idea how to even begin to get to the area that's rattling
