Fixing The Timing Chain Tensioner Cover Oil Leak | 2012 - 2015 Honda Civic Si

Here is the proper way to fix the oil leak coming from the timing chain check plate of the 9th gen Honda Si . Removing the crank pulley is the best way to do the job making sure the area gets clean completely and for ease of removal and installation of the check plate.

Hi i’ve got some honda bond, would that be okay to put on the back of the plate??

Yes indeed! That is even the right one dealer would recommend. But other type of RTV sealant products works as well.

What are the torque specs for the 3 bolts

My rule of thumb on parts that really don’t provide safety or secure major component of car…Just give it a good snug. You truly don’t need much specialy on an aluminum block or TC cover. Hope this helps

Why would Honda not put a gasket there, I'm making my own and put one there.

RTB will work just fine. Just do what I have done/suggested and you will not leak again
