Normally I prefer watching the routine videos that are posted and couldn't watch the live broadcasts because a) Timezone difference and b) some parts of this don't interest me. But I watched the previous video about you trying to balance the budget, losing it for a moment before you took control and then the railway lines turning into Noodles happened... I found it entertaining. Now, I am watching this video at 11 pm, a couple of hours after its been shown. I always find it relaxing and soothing somehow.

2:04:39 quarter acre lot in Seattle is wild. I live near Cologne Germany and here you’re lucky if you get more than 200sqm (1/20 acre) lol That is a house build on that. You can’t buy undeveloped land at all anywhere within about an hour’s drive. Sometimes you can get a derelict 60s home on 400sqm in a village without transit for half a million euros. Needless to say we still rent.

Drinking hot tea and watching CPP first thing in the morning is the most peaceful way to start my day, and I love it. I'm stealing that train track building hack. My lines always look like garbage at the depots

Loving this new rail mod but the long trains is very tricky to fit in to cargo terminals, I’m having to demolish half my industrial areas🤣 and as everyone in the US says waiting at a railroad crossing ohh here comes a mile long freight train 🤗🤗

What I find interesting regarding the Payed / unpaided internship thing: In germany we have regulations regarding payment for internships ... And it's pretty much the oposite of what you want. Mandators internships (as part of your education and so on) are allowed to be unpaided. Volantary internships (like the one where you learn what the job is like) need to be paid ... The idea here apperently is that mandating payment will decrease the amount of positions avaible ...
@Player-px1jq2 ай бұрын
Also for me my university required an Internship. But a lot of "beginner" jobs had the good old "needs to have at least 3 years of expirence" Line in them. (Software Engineer Here btw)

Phil, I think part of the ad thing is what version of the app you view KZbin on. My apple devices get almost no ads on any video. My 2yr old tv gets a few more ads. My bedroom tv, which is 10+ years old and most apps on it don’t even work anymore, gets ads A LOT!
@CityPlannerPlays2 ай бұрын
I hadn't even considered that, but that makes a ton of sense! Honestly, it's the number of ads I was seeing on my Chromecasts that caused me to get premium in the first place!

When you want to tour the city a bit, but don't have a particular area in mind, the First Person Camera mod now has an option to follow a random Cim or vehicle. You are better at returning to topic after you get sidetracked than I am. Your random rabbit holes are entertaining most of the time, but you are aware of what you are doing so that it doesn't usually go on for so long that I lose interest. I think it would not work if you didn't have both "produced" videos and streams, because I like both at different times, depending on my mood. Thank you for doing all you do, not just the videos.

01:05:00 Have the parallell single track sections from the new station be as long a the trains are. Then the merge into a double track, with a switch inbetween (as is automatic). At that same place (or very, very close) have the track that veers off towards the town center split off so it can attach to the mainline one train length away while still staying on the hither side of the road. This will reduce the number of at-grade crossings by one and make the flow of trains much smoother.

omg, the other stream you said you considered Wausau a hometown and you were one quarter Polish. Never having heard of Wausau, Wisconsin, I thought you meant Warsaw, Poland and when you mentioned your heritage a few minutes after I thought that was the confirmation. I guess a Wausau build could also be fun, but I’m not gonna lie, I was looking forward to you building a Warsaw inspired city.

As a Belgian it was torture to watch this stream and see you: choose Cherry Chouffe (instead of the original Chouffe which is an amazing beer), drink it from the bottle instead of the right glass, hear you calling it a Danish beer and have it warm (even saying it's better warmer) 💀For the rest, nice stream as usual!

as a northern canadian i can tell you that I love the cold, but i hate the snow. Breathing in cold clean air is refreshing. But snow, well it's fine when it's light and pretty at the begining of the 7 month winter, But lemme tell you after 4-7 ft of it and 6-7 months it way overstays its welcome.

At 49:30 i was wondering if it would make sense to have multiple tracks bringing trains into the hub. As it is now, all 6 lane-/Stopconnections would be provided over the same rail. Especially with longer trains, as they were shown in die vod, it would only create another bottleneck. Looking at our railnetworks in germany, we often have 2-4 (or even more, depending on the station) "lanes" supplying all different waiting platform. I mean we are only talking about a train yard here and trains simply despawn, but especially those would need furhter separations for better throughput and spacemanagement (simply for realism). What do you guys think?

@CityPlannerPlays2 ай бұрын
Welcome! No, I tried but the edits were very difficult because of how much we generally chat during the streams. So they're as much about hanging out as building and aren't cut down.

I understand these small flat junctions are realistic in an American context. Many American junctions haven't been improved in a century. It would be less true to the location, but if you want to build better rail for the game's sake, I'd recommend using ORM to look at major junctions in RUssia or China, who also have very freight-heavy systems, but with modern flying junctions.

Phil, the Financial Times channel on YT uploaded a video last week about how the recruitment process is now changing because the AI Sorting Hat is so easily exploited, a d is failing to pri. Big employers are now shifting over to online tests, games, puzzles, and problem-solving scenarios to find the candidates that have the actual qualities, intelligences, and skills needed for their job. As the FT is a UK paper, they spoke to big European companies like Siemens who were trying to recruit engineering graduates, but I suspect that the trend will spread to other fields quite soon. Also, in the city planning theme, I find thatAmerican cities even before I started to go down the rabbit hole were lacking mixed use spaces and local amenities. Effectively, the 'burbs were effectively small sleeping districts, where you couldn't do anything social or interesting without having to commute. It's strange to me to be without local pubs, local restaurants, community centres, churches, and shops. But the US is Big, and the planning ethos is distinctly American. What do you think about the Smart Cities movement?

I hope you're not translating videos to spanish for Brazilian audience, you need Portuguese. 45 minute videos feel too short, feels like you just started and it's over. Sometimes short videos work better for me, but if the short videos are extra to a full video. Sometimes if I can't watch a whole video in one sitting I usually continue it after.
