Nothing wrong with those welds Andrew, should support an elephant. Great refurb of that trailer mate, she’ll carry plenty of old metal for you to work on in the future. I know it takes money to do stuff like this Andrew but mate you get your return in knowing your machinery because you’ve fixed it yourself and it’s money in the bank, plus you are building and extending your equipment list, really well done mate, you should be real proud of yourself. Shout out to your buddy for giving you a hand

Just a suggestion for the next time you have to jack up the whole trailer. Unhook it from the tractor / truck. let the trailer all the way down in the front. You can use your floor jack to let the tongue down so it's all most touching the ground. Set your jack stands under the rear of the trailer. Jack the tongue back up using the floor jack then the tongue jack, then set your front jack stands. Set the trailer down on the front stands. No more using the hi-lift jack and having the trailer slide off of the jack stands. Nice job on the trailer.

You are doing an excellent job on your trailer. With so many young people doing nothing but getting into trouble it is very refreshing to see a young man doing something positive and VERY worthwhile.

I found it interesting that they retained the scene with the jack falling. While most would have edited it out, they chose to keep it, demonstrating the potential risks involved.

Howdy from California: "Not too bad for someone that doesn't know what they're doing." Young man, don't cut yourself short!! Its obvious you DO know what you're doing on ALL points. Subscribed a while back ~ I'm a Grandpa and get a good feeling when I see young people dedicate their lives towards a worthwhile, clean path. Don't usually comment; however, I had to put my two-cents worth in after hearing your comment! (Which by the way, pro or amateur, turned out pretty good!!) Take care and stay safe & healthy!!

Great job Andrew, very professional. Love that you made the trailer safe, when you see so many on the road that are not road worthy. Only thing I would do that you haven't done (yet), is a paint job on the tongue and to replace those ugly (but still serviceable) deck boards. Again - great job!

I considered paint but decided to hold off until I replace the deck. Which I will do one I start falling through it in places.

FYI when installing the lights in a new gromit I always added a little bit of dawn dish soap helps alot
@jt9498
@jt9498 2 ай бұрын
Instead of dish soap, use a little Vaseline on the grommets. The lights will pop right in. :) Oh, and on the light electric connectors, use some dialectric grease. It will keep the moisture out and prevent rusting.

Great video so much background information whilst working. Your work ethic is great I think when you get a new project you are genuinely excited to crack on and get it done. Another project another success. Well done keep it up and take care.

Andrew, when we used to have to replace the grommets on the clearance lights, if we were close to electrical source we would use a heat gun and heat the grommets up then slip the lights right in. It works like a dream. It sure does save on your hands doing it that way. The other is just like the man said lower the front put your Jack's jack stands in the back then lower the front end. Then Jack it back up with your tongue jack and your floor jack then put them in the front. You'll never have a problem with it sliding off. That's hell. We used to do it in the shops when we had to do brakes on a 53-ft trailers works like a dream

I know it's been 9 days since you done that wiring on that trailer. I'm just now watching the video on it myself today. I believe and think that could be your wires to the Hazzard flashing lights/ warning lights.

Making old stuff new again 👍 Good tip putting grease on the screw heads, I’ll use that idea. I figured you give it a quickie paint job too. 🙏🏼🇺🇸✌🏼😎 MAGA

Next time you have a problem with the lights and the grommets, put something like WD40 on your fingers around the grommet and it will be easier for you.

hi, as long as the whole trailer has to be repaired, it seems to me that a bit of paint would have been nicer before putting all the equipment back in place, don't you think?

When you did the wiring, and you tested to see what did what. How did you do that? Did you have the black wire on black then used the red end on your jump pack to test each wire?

I believe you said that the trailer is a 2007. If I’m correct there’s an antilock brake actuator on the trailer that’s supposed to flash one of the marker lights when the connector is pulled out of the power supply. If you’re ever pulled over by the DOT, that’s supposed to be in working order. Otherwise you could be placed out of service

There is no ABS system on the trailer I have seen. I know bigger commercial trailers have the ABS system and light. Usually DOT does not mess with non commercial smaller trailers.

So you don't have to check out all your lights on trailer by running back and forth from test get a old mirror to a frame so you can view from front of trailer 😂😂😂just a suggestion go for back up in the future even if you put wheels on a A frame that folds to pack away for future use 😊

Hi great vid. Please becareful using that cut off grinder. Noticed you cut off mounts on that box. Holding box in one hand and operating grinder with other. You see how the grinder wheel jumped. Your hands and fingers are important do not lose them be smart be safe. It takes a second to slice off a finger. 20:34 d.

Nice job, but for the life of me, I have to wonder why so many YT'ers refurb something and never bother to actually clean the old bearings, just wipe the old gunk off and slap on some fresh grease. Why?
@thesmallenginekid

Bearings looked fine, fresh grease and they should not have any issues. I will keep an eye on them when towing to make sure none of the hubs get hot.
