Your dad definitely does it right, reminds me a lot of the guys I used to hang around with as a kid, a genuine bike guy. It also made me miss the time I spent working with my dad, he passed last year from cancer, but I have a some of his ashes in a little crystal cylinder and I epoxied it on the nacelle of my bike so he's always around on my rides, lol. You guys are getting there one step at a time! Those little helping hands for holding the wires are a lifesaver! I don't know about your Dyna, but it's possible that your module had the self-cancelling feature. Now you have to..(GASP!)... turn off your signals YOURSELF!! Oh, the horror! :) Honestly, most of the problems that we all face on working on older, but still relatively modern vehicles is dealing with the totally unnecessary crap that the factories added to cars and bikes to add new whiz-bang features that last year's models didn't have. A lot of that stuff isn't even made anymore, so people like your dad have to eliminate the "latest-greatest" parts to tried and true parts that will always be around.

I have enough sense in that if I don't know, or if a job is way outta my ability, just to leave it alone and take it to someone who I trust to do the job. Glad y'all are getting that old Dyna crash bike in proper order! Can't wait till you get it going down the road! Stay safe up there in beautiful B.C.!

Another good old school lesson video, Angel, your dad is so talented and is so much like me the way he does things, and I agree that solder connection's is much better than butt connections any day, as long as you use the right resin core solder, and the way he staggers the connections is spot on !!...keep up the good work and keep the video's coming...you are a great apprentice...and will be a great mechanic some day with your dad being a great teacher !!...I would love to meet you and your dad someday !! ✌✌😘

Haven't seen that trick in years . that's a cool little jig for holding your wiring work while you work on it.that module may also have your headlights, turn signal s, and Speedo in it that cancels the turn signal s . I've had the same problem before with those kinda modules . another great how to video from red rider production.

Nice wiring. One FYI, some years of Harley's have the security alarm built into the turn signal module, which would explain the horn. You may want to google the part number you have on it to see what pops up.

Solder connections look clean and lump free. Way to do repairs‼️ ||| Add-on comment: The 1970 era 350 I had; was sold to me due to the main battery wire ,(20 amp max. capacity possibly), to the headlight, had a melt-down. Previous owner placed metallic foil over the fuse and reinserted the new combo. back into the fuse holder. (Not safe to write the least here). If remembering correctly, it was the headlight switch and or related wiring on the handlebars, that shorted to ground.

When i was wrenching in shops we absolutely dreaded it when someone came in with an old rat bike that was having any kind of electrical problem. 90% of the time, the wiring would be a total disaster from owners trying to fix shit themselves. Harley wants an arm & leg just for some of the connector blocks they use in their harnesses, IF ya can get them. There are several motorcycle wreck -stripping companies on Ebay and they offer complete harnesses stripped from wrecks. As you found out, soldering and heat-shrink several wires at the same point can make a lump in a harness, making it hard to run inside handlebars. I try to offset the joints about an inch of so apart, when I can.

Over the years I have seen some horror stories on bike wiring and I have learned a lot over the years as well, I was working on a Shovelhead that I had rebuilt the top end on about 15 years ago, it came back fro some other issues about 2 years ago, the wiring was horrible, so I asked the owner "Who was the a$$hole that wired this?" Confusion with turn signals is a common occurrence, I also had this, you turn it on, and the lights just burn, sometimes this is also due to the fact that there is no additional light bulb between the turn signals and the relay.
