Fixing up an 1980s retro MB BigTrak - Can this be repaired?

Today we have another amazing toy from the 1980's!
BigTrak (or Big Trak) was a late 70's early 80's toy that you programmed using the keypad on the top. Input instructions to go forward, back, turn left and right by varying degrees and fire the blue photon!
This is the UK edition version of this toy.
Let's see if we can fix up this one and save more tech from the scrap heap.
