Sometimes remodeling an old, outdated bathroom is out of the question for any number of reasons. It could be cost, lack of time, bad time of year for us but the bathroom is still annoying. Here are 8 things I was able to do to this bathroom that didn't cost a lot but made a big difference in its overall appearance. It can be fully remodeled later, but at least for now, it looks pretty nice again!

Your family is lucky to have your support! My favorite thing about this video is that none of the suggestions were expensive. Even the toilet can be replaced for a hundred bucks. There is no feeling worse than feeling gross while you're in the bathroom. Having a nice place to do your business and get ready for your day is a big boost to a person's dignity, and it has outsized effects.

Thanks for your comments, Too! You summed up the intention behind the video very nicely. Sometimes you don't have to spend a lot of money to make your space, particularly a bathroom have a better feel to it. That's not always the case but more times than not, we can do some things to help. Replacing the toilet is an easy one, generally. Your reference to outsized effects is also an interesting one. Certainly some mental struggles that people have could be helped if they learned to do creative things with their hands while working hard on their hands and knees. Probably too simplistic, huh?

Rusty, you always do an awesome job. Your work and your videos are top notch!!! Sure wish you would come finish my bathroom for me! I have one finished but am lacking motivation to get the other one finished... I moved in after I got enough done to live comfortably and motivation to continue flew away... I'm enclosing my back patio to make my wood working shop so I can get all my wood tools and machines out of my metal/automotive shop. Just got to keep going and someday it will all be finished! maybe...

Thanks, Danny! It doesn't help that we are getting to the age that our motivation gives way to our need for mid afternoon naps more often than in our younger years! Yeah, if we lived closer we could finish out some projects helping each other out. I have so many things to catch up on around the shop and house that I can fill my channel with videos for a couple of years. What I would like to learn from you is some of the metal working and automotive skills. Think we are running out of time, my friend!

@@RustyDobbs Maybe I'm doing it wrong, I never take a nap. Guess I should try that. I can totally understand being overwhelmed with projects, some I need to accomplish and lots of things I want to do just to prove to myself that I can do them. And other projects and things I've wanted to do for years. I would like to share some projects and skills, that would be awesome! And I have been realizing that time sand ebbing lower in the glass more and more... Take care my friend, talk to you soon.

Rusty I was thinking of redoing some grout on the tile floor and was going to try brushing some bonding agent to help with the strength then apply the grout. BUT I also thought hum maybe I could put extra in the grout also. What you think worth a try??? Can't believe I got on here and this video was here. We are redoing the bathroom right now. Amazing the difference the painting, cleaning and touch ups can do to a space.

Sounds reasonable on the bonding agent, Ronda. The good thing about doing spruce up kinds of things like regrouting is that you are probably not going to make it look worse than it already does or you wouldn't have felt the need to regrout in the first place. 🙂 No doubt that doing these kinds of small things changes the overall look of our spaces in big ways. Good luck with your bathroom!

I have a question for you. I have a tub surround and removed an old fashioned door which did leave six small holes. Can I install six small square tiles to cover these holes and if that is possible what product would be used to adhere tiles. Just a thought. Thanks.

Hi, Valerie. I’m not sure I understand exactly what your situation is, but generally speaking, yes, you can use small tile squares to cover your six holes. As long as they are glued in place and look good to you, they should work. A good overall product for gluing anything permanently in place is 100% clear silicone caulk. You can buy it at any hardware or big box store. Hope that helps!

@@RustyDobbs thank you for your response. It is a fiberglass tub surround and if not small square tiles possibly and tile strip. Just knowing it can be done rather than replacing a perfectly sound unit makes me happy. Again, thank you. Now to find a gardener for information. I love youtube.
