Yeah fixing that front grille gives the truck a way cleaner look, well worth it (and driving around in a Magirus has way more style then an Iveco) Also at this point i wanna say i really enjoy the content together with that background music you use, reminds me of the old training VHS back in the days and i love it XD

Another thought, WHEN it's time to re paint is to use" raptor coat" on things like the bumpers and hard wearing places

Another excellent video. Put the license plate in the front grill, where the 170D plaque would be.

Would suggest primer before filler, it makes a big difference in both adhesion of the filler, and also provides protection as well. Inside the wheel arches a coat of rubberiser will make a big difference, as it is thicker and absorbs the chips better.

You made a good job, the Magirus looks good, the grille is perfekt and the logo of Ulmer Münster and first letter M complete it. I think you should use a heat gun to remove the stripes.

Very Nice. The right color is RAL5002. Seems like it originally came from Schwerin (or Schwelm?). If the truck is from Schwerin, it has been elsewhere before. There is a chance that this truck has been in a fire department before.

Dear KJ 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Sir, you did extremely well (despite what you've mentioned). Congratulations 🎉 for having all those skills and the patience to do this restoration work. Especially the grille turned out to be great and it's definitely the most recognisable repair. I was happy to see that you gave the old Magirus it's straight face back. By the way: In my memory these trucks had a big trident emblem where the remains of "THW" can be seen. Somehow all that flat metal above the grille looks unfamiliar respectively kinda weird. The Magirus Deutz emblem you put in the grill, sat directly above the grill under the big trident. The way you did it was on the slightly newer trucks than yours is. If you don't want to change it, you could maybe have a 3D printed KJ or KJ OR glued on there!? Anyway: I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health in particular. Post Scriptum: The only thing I would have done different is, that I always put paint on primer. Even if it's covered by underbody protection respectively stone chip protection. Doing so you have a better rust protection (because primer is always kind of open- pored).
@KJOff-RoadАй бұрын
Thanks a lot! And yes, you are right, some om the older trucks had the big logo up there on the front. But this really is one of the newer trucks and this one originally had an "Iveco" logo on it's front. But i retro-fitted the logo that it has now, because it's not a "real" iveco truck. So I wanted the Magirus logo. And this was the style of logo they had, just before getting the iveco brands 🙂
@Chr.U.Cas1622Ай бұрын
@KJOff-Road Dear Kasper J. You're welcome, it's my pleasure. Thanks for replying. I always appreciate it. 2) I already know all that because I watched the video (and usually I do that thoroughly). In my comment I wasn't talking about the older and more rounder trucks but about this, your 'flat nose" cabover. I remember a red fire truck with the big trident logo under the windscreen and the Magirus Deutz lettering under the trident. Looks much better than having this big "unused" flat panel. At least in my opinion respectively for my personal kind of taste. But of course you made it already look much better using your skills and the 3D printed trident emblem. By the way: Do you already know what the symbol stands for? It's the rough shape of the Ulmer Münster, a famous German cathedral. 3) So there will be no KJOR lettering? 😁 ;-) For decorating respectively improving this "vast empty space", your prename would even be better. Maybe Kasper is a good name for the truck too!? 😁 ;-) Sincerely yours C. U. Casper
@KJOff-RoadАй бұрын
Ah yes, now I know what you mean :) and yes, that's right. The firetrucks had the logo moved up there. But the reason for that, is because they had attachments for their water hoses mounted on the front. So the whole grille was modified. So there was no room for the original logo :) As for putting my personal logo on there. That might just be an option 🙂

Please don’t apply the filler directly on the bare metal. Even if it is allowed it’s not good because the filler is hygroscopic. Imagine you have a the tiniest hole from welding, filler is soaking and falls off. Please keep going, you are doing a way better job than most of the workshop!!!!!
