Convoluted but it worked! While they didn't need to be super accurate drilling a straight and clean 38mm deep hole with a spade bit in melamine is beyond my skill. A 10mm reference hole however was possible. 😊 Cheers Ben!

Kreg Gear is not cheap, but compared to a traditional vice and clamping solutions it's really pretty good value. Yes, the auto-maxx clamps are AUD$50, but a quality an old school doghole hold down _Start_ around $25 and manual screw style ones start around $35. I know which I'd rather have! Time to save the poor man pennies 😄

So very happy and it's only just built. Believe it or not, it's still just one piece of the puzzle. There will be another smaller bench nested underneath and possibly some more additions 😋 Just came up with the magic extension trick on the fly, probably osmosis from multiple sources 😊

Thought you'd like this Dave. Yes a rolling bench in that space would be great. I really like this bench, it's been super useful. I'm planning a smaller bench to next underneath it but you could easily modify it for drawers or cabinets too.

You can also get base plates with a key hole designed to plonk in the middle of a bench as an anchor point. Remember your friendly local Carbatec affiliate if you do 😉

Cheers mate! It continues to be the most important thing in my workshop. The only changes I've made to the design is adding a relief cut to the trim so the short clamp track is open at the end and I wedged some material behind the vice (below the trim) to remove a little flex it got under high pressure. Otherwise Im still very happy with it.

They are super handy. You don't need the big bopper 720 to start with, there are cheap little portable jigs that give you the capability. However, if you are going to get into making larger projects I do recommend a proper jig. Once you know what you are doing they are a super fast joinery technique. Cheers mate!

This is the flagship video :P I love this thing, completely changed the way I can work. I knew I wouldn't use the vice too often, but has come in handy a few times. The top clamping system is now my primary clamping tool, I haven't needed to buy another clamp since! :D

No I don't see the need for one with this setup. The Kreg Vice is designed to replace the traditional woodworking vice. I've got by 3 years without a vice at all so I reckon this one will do me fine 😁 I do however have an engineers vice (or two :P) I want to restore and make a removeable plate for the bench which will handle the smaller jobs the kreg vice can't handle.

Hi Anatoli, those bolts used to secure the track to the bench come with the kit, though I think they are just standard M8 nut and bolts, probably about 2"/50mm long 👍

@@FixitFingers Kreg is a multi national making truckloads. Just because they can take advantage doesn't mean they have to. Mind you they are not the only predators in the woodworking game. Interesting to watch how some of these KZbin sponsorships go very sour. There is famous yellow company where after a while some KZbinrs spray painted the tools a different colour.
