I used to be a hardcore hand made guy when I bought knives or sword, it had to be done traditionally etc. etc. ... then I started to make knives myself and i realized, that there is just so much boredom in sepnding 6 hours filing a single slot that then has a gap and you have to scrap it... I enjoy this

I really like your message and that you're not a tool snob. Long time viewer here.

Using the cap press reminds me of how I used to make tweeter grills. I drilled out a hole in a board, and used the piece made by the hole saw and hammered old speaker grill mesh to punch out new smaller tweeter grills for dashboards and door cards. I may try making some caps for my next few knife projects.

Really does anyone that has made more than one of anything, that if the old time sword makers had tools like these, they would have jumped on them in a heart beat!

Stop defending your move to cnc. We know what this step up in your production means to your bottom line, time better spent elsewhere. .. We are behind you Walter. Keep that faith and push forward unapologetically. How many knives will you be able to make available to your customers once you have your process down? John Grismo don't file or drill shi# anymore and no one's complaining. Eyes forward and the faithful will follow! 😃

As a professional craftsman myself (know nada about metal) I agree wholeheartedly. We don't forget or stop developing skills when we involve a machine, we just get better use of our time and energy.

When the part is milled free from the stock, does it seppa-rate? If the point is to speed up production, does it reach a seppa rate? Does your CNC machine use a seppa motor? Are the people who want to keep machine tools away from nihonto sepparatists? Is someone who differentiates good quality seppa from poor a seppa rater? Is a flower with brass sepals then seppaled?

Probably a jewelery, or buy a coin/bar/medal and do it yourself.

Awesome explanation of how there are many ways to do things that get you an end result that you are happy with and that you had fun doing so. I really enjoyed it.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
