Honestly I've quite enjoyed this game, it's charming and very adorable. The cinematics are nice too, but only non-skippable ones were shown in this video as it's a speedrun.
This game does feature an Extra Difficulty that is unlocked after beating the game once.
Beating Normal 100% & Extra 100% respectively unlocks a speedrun mode that has all characters unlocked from the start for both difficulties accordingly to which one is beaten.
Extra has no healing from collecting blue coins and bosses have more HP and enemies do more damage. This means only way to refill HP is getting the end of act orb until stage 3's green dragon is unlocked.
100% Completion criteria according to the game requires interacting with all NPCs that have dialogue until there is no badge icon over the interact prompt or the badge icon has a green tick, playing the Taonga boss fight (speculative requirement), collecting all secret items (World 3-1 Matcha Forest Act 1 requires fighting against the orange boss called Brain without getting grabbed by them once for the item) and interacting with one secret item chest twice.
Taonga, the Big Golden Deity Dragon must be spoken to many times throughout the playthrough by multiple characters, typically the character that beat the boss at the end as well as the new character that is unlocked, though in the case of final stage Macaron Moon, Fiz (light blue playable dragon) and Rubell (purple playable dragon) must talk to them I believe.
World 5-3 (Float Isle Act 3)'s special beach secret area with the white & black dragon character is available depending on if your system clock is in PM (white dragon) or AM (black dragon). Both dragons counts towards completion percentage, so must both be interacted with in the playthrough for 100%.
For the purposes of this 100% playthrough, and likely for future playthroughs, I set my system clock to the right time after exiting the door, and then reenter the door so I can talk to the other dragon. (As otherwise only before 00:00 or before 12:00 are the times you could do runs. Note: The dragon you meet only changes once you reenter the room when the time requirement is met)
I interacted with the secret chest in World 2 twice because I forgot to interact with it twice in World 1. You only need to interact with one single chest two times, all others can be interacted with once.
Characters and their abilites explanation:
Special Abilities use the yellow bar that I will refer to as SP.
SP is refilled by collecting blue triangle coins.
100 blue triangle coins give an extra life which the game calls "rest".
Holding the attack button allows the character to run, except for the green dragon which has a faster normal move speed to compensate.
HP is shared between all playable dragons.
Fiz (Light Blue Dragon) has a high jump and fires hammers when attacking which can be spammed. His SP ability throws a hammer that does more damage and goes through walls, costs only a little SP.
Sorako (Orange Dragon) has a low jump and its attacks are very close range and destroy the yellow rocks. His SP ability can only be activated when in the air and have a directional input given to do a drill charge in that direction, destroying all yellow rocks in his path.
Reefer (Green Dragon) has a medium jump and its attack is a bow and arrow with holding down the button changing the elevation of the attack and letting go makes it fire. Her SP ability heals the player with proportionate SP cost to the health recovered.
Ryutron (Red Dragon) has a high jump and a high double jump but a low third jump to be used to stay in the air a bit longer. Very close range fighter but their jump can damage enemies close by. He also burns anything flammable when attacking such as bridges & bushes & the eating worms. His SP ability gives a huge burst of flames at a significant SP cost.
Kyuma (Dark Blue Dragon) has a medium jump but can swim in water extremely fast when the attack button is held down, and any attacks underwater have a decent range and do a big amount of damage. His SP ability is the most complicated, hold down the SP button when your SP is at maximum until the blue circle around the character completes, then water in the level will raise up to around head height of the dragon. When running, he can glide across the surface of water really quickly which is required in some sections.
Rubell (Pink Dragon) has a decent jump and is the only character that can swim through the purple poison without instant death and she takes no damage to it. Her main capability through the attack button is to shoot sticky webs that allow clinging to walls which can also apply momentum if she is hanging from above. Her special ability does not use the SP button unlike all the others, instead its activated by pressing the jump key while her sticky webs are attached to a wall, allowing her to double jump from that position and scale walls or make tricky jumps possible. The SP cost is pretty high though.
