Youhave to manually select the compass (magnetic variation) calibration zone and then drive in a circle to calibrate/orientate the compass.

Thanks for the tip! I missed that in the book and left mine on zone 9. I switched it over to 6 after my calibration and it's still working like normal

I totaled my 2007 FJ Cruiser a year ago. Just picked up a 2011 and it did not come with the inclinometer. That was one of the features I love on the Fj. Thanks for the video.

Hi. I have a 2019 FJ that displays temperature in the mirror. We installed the pod you have installed we plugged the whole wiring harness supplied into the FJ. We operate in Celsius in South Africa. There is a 25 degree difference between the pid and the mirror

getting ready to pull the trigger on this project, are the links in the description still accurate and correct? Thanks
@LegitRaceCraft2 ай бұрын
if you're building your own harness, I had two links for the same connector, and one of those links seems to not be working (or not working right now?), it's all in Japanese. If you're just buying the Toyota harness to replace your old one, yes, that link is still good. I included the part numbers in the description just in case those links ever do fail, then people can search the part numbers separately.

Hi love your videos.well done… I do have a question that maybe you know the answer to… I have read a number of forum posts but it’s still not clear. Am trying to find the VSS wire in my 2011 FJ ..is it the purple with red strip wire found in a number of locations including the 18 pin plug behind the stereo ?
@LegitRaceCraft Жыл бұрын
For the 2010 and up I can't say, I know those are slightly different. I looked into the vss upgrade a while back and I forget all of the details for even my 07 model

Hi, I try to connect with how you teach, but now I cannot find the wire of outside temperature, van let me know which one is the wire of outside temperature? Thanks...

Sorry, I'm not sure which one is the outside temperature wire

I enjoyed your video But I do have a question, My 07FJ cruiser 4 wheel drive. Would it be wired already for this?
@LegitRaceCraft Жыл бұрын
Yes, my understanding is that all 4wd fj cruisers have this option for the upgrade. If you're still doubting, check your wire harness the way I mentioned in the video to see if you have the extra wires on your FJ cruiser.
@Quepersonaje123 Жыл бұрын
Would be same steps for a 2011 fj? I made all connections like u wrote down but it doesn’t work for me 😢
@LegitRaceCraft11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, possibly. You can always look at your fj cruiser's harness connector that I point out in this video to see if the same wires are in yours

Great video! Since it's so hard to find the wire harness in canada. I'm buying the 8 pin connector, and wiring to my OEM blue harness. Do you have the wiring diagram from you video at 12:28? It's super helpful, but the colored lines are a little unclear at the bottom right of the screen.
@LegitRaceCraft2 жыл бұрын
I actually came across that wire diagram not too long ago, I'll see if I can dig it up again. Send me an email from the "about" section of my KZbin page and hopefully I can find it again to send to you
@allenchan68552 жыл бұрын
@@LegitRaceCraft thanks! But after watching your video over and over again, I screen shot @12:48 and the diagram is usable! My other question is: what is the wire distance from the inclinometer to the blue pin connector? Guesstimate 3 feet? Again great video for guys like me who are just starting to model their FJ'S! You rock
@LegitRaceCraft2 жыл бұрын
3-4 feet, yes. I would probably make it 4 feet. The blue plug is near the bottom of the glove box and it's not a straight shot to the inclinometer. The wire bends back behind the radio and then up. It would probably be 3 feet with no bends, but with bends probably 4

@@LegitRaceCraft I'm soooooo close to finishing this project? Do you have the measurements for the hole you cut in the dash? My DIY harness works! :) last step is cutting a hole in the dash
@LegitRaceCraft2 жыл бұрын
Glad it works! I believe I mentioned the measurements in the video, I don't have them anymore though. All I did was measure between the tabs of the inclinometer and measure between the airbag and dash compartment, then center. I laid out masking tape to draw on the dash where I was going to cut

Great Vid- but seems to be having some issues. I got the OEM wire kit, can see the blue plug behind the glove box. I have plugged up all the wires expect for one wire I think was for the stereo as I am using an aftermarket. My stereo, clock, speakers/tweeters all seem to be working. However, my cluster is not lighting up. FYI - my FJ is 2011, Japan Model. I looked in the front by the hood latch and did not see any temp sensor looking gadget as what I have seen where its located. Suggestions ?
@antigua20002 жыл бұрын
Update.. I was able to locate the Outside Temp in front of the Rad. Any ideas why the cluster would not turn on ? No lights either when turn on the lights on the dash. Note - Second hand from Ebay.
@LegitRaceCraft2 жыл бұрын
Look at the blue connector again that you plugged into. I'm not sure what the Japanese model is like, but there should be as many wires going into it that are coming out of the new connector. If there are less wires going into the connector than there are in the OEM wire kit then it's not going to work. To make it work you would need to run a power wire and a ground wire into the blue plug so the inclinometer will work
@antigua20002 жыл бұрын
@@LegitRaceCraft - Yes, I have as many wires as in your video. The wires coming out was less until i put in the new harness. I put a tester into the plug that goes to the Inclinometer and I see I am getting power there. I plug it in and put a tester on the circuit board to the back of the plug and see power there, but the inclinometer does not light up. Bad Inclinometer ?
@LegitRaceCraft2 жыл бұрын
Since you have a Japanese model FJ Cruiser I wonder if there is a wiring different in the inclinometer. Is it a Japanese inclinometer? I know most Toyotas I've worked with that are US model, the gauges are wired differently even though the plug is the same, so I usually have to rewire something on the car wiring in order for the gauges to work
@antigua20002 жыл бұрын
@@LegitRaceCraft not sure.. my suspension is also different than the US FJ models. I have the 4Runner suspension with the shocks and hydraulic lines running front right back to left rear.

I personally want to remove mine. It’s so old school looking. And your phone has a compass. It’s just unnecessary. I want to replace that bulky gadget with some glow shift gauge pods to monitor my trans temp and oil temp for when I’m snow wheeling. Making sure nothing is overheating below.
@LegitRaceCraft11 ай бұрын
I believe one of the gauges is removable. I think it's the tilt I've seen people remove so they can put another gauge in
