Thanks for the video - convinced me to go for the 1/4" aluminum version of these BudBuilts - when overlanding, weight matters. 1/4" aluminum has worked well for me in the past on my VW's.

I've been using the aluminum on the FJ for years. got a few bashes but nothing that would warrant replacement. They work fine.

Very informative. Can you give us an update.?

They worked great, highly recommend! I still have the gas tank skid installed. I've changed the vehicle so much that I can't use these skid plates anymore.

If you get to the point where your skids need replacing. Check out RCI skid plates. They are out of Colorado. I love mine. Really easy install. Plus I have the diff skid too. That one is harder to install. But still not too bad. They are so easy to remove and install. I remove the front one to change oil. Less mess that way

All armored up, great informative video! Have you regeared yet..4.56 or 4.88? How do you like the Patagonias?

No re-gear yet. Maybe someday! Thanks for watching!

Having that jack paid off! Iam envious....newer plates for my truck are on a wish list but not right away. Watching your last video it was obvious the new plates were in place. Enjoy!

When you installed these skid plates, were you running a Diff drop by chance? Installing Dobinsons suspension MRR extended travel front coilovers and not sure if I’ll need to run a Diff drop or not and Bud told me “he hates Diff drops” lol. But want to make sure I keep my CV angles all good for the long haul.. seeing if you may have any advice or tips? Thank you @offroadhub

I never ran a diff drop. And these skids wouldn't have fit if I had. I would avoid it.

Great videos. Where did you buy from and how much did they cost. Also did you custum order the white? Thanks for all your hatd work on posting these videos. I just subscribed

I bought directly from BudBuilt and had them powdercoated white locally. They came as bare steel from BudBuilt. Thanks for watching!

How have these held up 2 years later?
@offroadhub.official2 жыл бұрын
They got pretty beat up over the course of about 90 difficult trails, but they never failed in any way. I definitely wouldn't go any lighter than 3/16 steel.
@paris64022 жыл бұрын
@@offroadhub.official I figured you’d have put them to the test with all the trails you go on. You sold me on these, building up my 2008 TT! Thanks for the info!

@@paris6402 the biggest problem with any skids are the mounting points on the vehicle. Weak threads.

What classical piece is that? Tried to use the Shazam app, no result. TIA.

no way to protect the muffler right?

Not really. But it stays pretty safe. I dented mine up a little, but it was ok.

thank you so much for the video. I'll be installing my bud built skids this weekend. Curious if you had a diff drop installed on your FJ at the time? If you did, did you have any issues or need additional spacers?
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I did not have a diff drop. I'm not sure how that would work with the BudBuilts.
