We take a look at the Fjallraven Kanken No. 2 backpack to show you what it has to offer. The model number of this backpack is F23565. The color of this backpack is Navy and the color code is 560.

The Kanken No. 2 is the upgraded and "grown-up" version of the original Kanken Classic.
At 38 x 27 x 13 cm, it's the same size and offers the same volume of 16 litres as the Kanken Classic.
At a suggested retail price of $130 USD, it is $50 USD more than the Kanken Classic. Here's what you get for the extra $50:
- G-1000 fabric instead of Vinylon F. G-1000 is Fjallraven's proprietary fabric treated with Greenland Wax which makes it more durable and water resistant than the Vinylon F used to make the standard Kankens (Classic, Mini, Laptop, Kids, Maxi, Big)
- Leather handles and trimmings
- Different Arctic Fox logo colors
- A seat cushion that looks like a seat cushion
One of the things Fjallraven didn't change that we wish it did is the shoulder straps. We wish they were padded like the Kanken Laptop backpacks straps are. As it is, the straps dig into the shoulders, making the backpack uncomfortable to wear over time if you pack like we did in this video.
We'd recommend the Kanken No. 2 to those who want a Kanken but appreciate a mature look that will fit into a professional setting. We love the G-1000 fabric and feel more confident in Fjallraven's claim of the backpack's ability to resist water and dry faster. Between the Kanken No. 2 Classic and the Kanken No. 2 15" Laptop, our choice would be the Kanken No. 2 15" Laptop for the padded straps. Good thing that backpack is available in Navy as well.
For students on a budget, think of all the things you could get with the $50 you'd save by going for the Kanken Classic or the $20 you'd save by going for one of the Kanken Laptop backpacks.

You can fit a macbook pro 15" without the sleeve, and the macbook pro 13" fits nicely in the pocket if you take out the seating.

I would say it's more uncomfortable than it is painful. With that being said, if you're carrying a lot of weight, the thin straps dig in more than the padded ones do.

I recently bought a black backpack in the g-1000 material. It does catch some dirt. Do you know how to clean this g-1000 material? Anybody machine wash it?? Ive tried looking on their site but no luck with finding any info.

No need to wash before use. If you need to clean the backpack, I recommend spot cleaning it with a damp towel.

Is the no.2 mini easy to clean? I have the bigger no.2 and it's so easy to clean. I also bought the regular kanken mini and it's so hard to clean. Both are authentic from authorized stores but it seemed like the regular kanken have a different treatment compared to the no2. I'm thinking of getting the no.2 mini coz the dirt on the regular kanken is driving me crazy.

@@Nandering I bought the regular kanken in dark red first, it's impossible to clean no kidding! I tried all the "how to clean" videos to no avail. I eventually bought the no.2 mini in navy. Both my no.2 mini and no.2 15" are still in excellent condition up to this day. Save yourself time and enery, get the no.2!

The strips are cheap and thin. I can get a Columbian pack about the sake look and same price and it holds up. They also come with a lifetime warranty. Had one for 10 years and finally bought a new one last year and it looks very grown up.😂😂
