I love this in depth comparison! I had my classic Kanken for years and now I'm thinking of getting one again. I still have my mini one too in black. :)

What do you think of this bag? Do you have any recommendations for small crossbody bags that we and others considering this Pocket should know about?

I have one of those! I really liked this model because during some trips I only want to carry the essentials, and some shoulder bag models are too big for just a "cell phone, passport and Creditcard/money" This model is excellent for carrying only what you REALLY need and keeping your pockets free. Furthermore, if you are wearing a jacket or hoodie, you can easily use this bag “inside” your clothes!

For 2-3 week trips, especially if I carry recreational equipment like snorkel or other aquatic gear, I'll be using the "add a bag" strap described immediately below by @Tsch6373. I frequently travel with 2 bags. I just purchased and received the Briggs & Riley and will be using it in the next few days . Consider my review as a 5-star one.

Have Fjallraven updated the re-kanken fabric since this video was made? I ordered one and it isn't soft like in the video. It's very stiff/rigid and very noisy (crunchy, like squeezing plastic bottles). It looks super durable and resiliant though and pet hair seems to brush right off (unlike g-1000 that is nice and soft, but is a hair and dirt magnet!). OR is this just how re-kankens start off and they become soft over time?

Anyone know which of the 3 materials is more resistant to stains (particularly sunscreen) and dog hair please? I've had a No.2 black sling for a few days. Applied 3 layers of wax as soon as it arrived. Already has some dirt marks (not wax as it doesn't disappear with hairdryer). I would also like a mini to use as my daily handbag, but I am torn between the much more adult and smart looking No.2 black and a re-kanken in black. A re-kanken arrived today. My impression is that the re-kanken is actually going to be the most stain and hair resistant (as well as being the most colour fast). It's a nice looking bag for sure, but def looks like a kiddies' backpack more so than the style of the No.2, so I am torn, trying to decide whether to return it or keep it. The No.2 is blatantly nicer (no contest!), but it's going to drive me mad if it always looks dirty and the colour fades within a few months 😢😢.

Thank you for making this video! I was at a Salvation Army Thrift Store today. Saw this bag. Picked it up and did a search on the manufacturer. Came across this review and was kind of shocked that there was an in-depth review of this old thrift store bag. Watched the review and decided to buy it for $10.00. Yes, 10.00! The bag is in good shape but needs a bit of cleaning. Which is easy to justify when I have paid only $10.00 for this price of luggage. Your review made it easier for me to make the decision on the bag. It is slightly used and hardly any sort of wear or damage to it. Only dust.
