As someone who pole dances, she is extremely talented. Her lines are beautiful, she has so much strength, and it all looks effortless which is what you want as a dancer. Everything that I've seen from her has been in the contemporary style of pole dance. She's definitely advanced.

@@bonniegomez5333 That's a really hard question to answer, it's super varied person to person! I started pole with a gymnastics background and learned up to this level a couple of months, someone with a dance background might be faster. Without a transferable skill set I guess it depends on a variety of factors like musicality, fitness level and time commitment. Some studios are also more conservative than others in terms of how quickly you're allowed to try new/harder skills. It's really fun though, you should go for it :)

Thing with Twigs is she injects so much raw emotion. It's not about technical ability. Kind of like Thom Yorke from Radiohead. Sure his voice is great... but it's his ability to channel emotion into all the details and nuances that makes him special. Just mechanically nailing the technical aspect is boring and has more in common with gymnastics than art.

If you know her background, you would know that she was a dancer prior to producing music and songs. She has the ability to leave her audience absolutely mesmerized. Her music is not really pop music - it can't really be tied to a particular genre. She is stylistically one-of-a-kind not to be broken down into mathematical vocal increments. The same can be said for some of my other favorite artists such as Bjork, PJ Harvey and Kate Bush. They all sing with deep projected emotions that penetrate the soul...or in layman's terms, give me goosebumps...and that's all that matters.

Very interesting analysis and it's good to get a professional's angle on things. I appreciate how every aspect of the performance was studied and not just the vocals. Picking up on how she maintained character during the pole dance was a fine point and for me, demonstrates how Fka twigs understands performance. She's been compared to Kate Bush in the way she manages to combine artistic expression through the medium of dance and performance art as well as singing, which is different to just creating a dance routine.
