Brilliant video - thank you! I think I'd like to underscore how much fo the Pattinson scrutiny/backlash was fully fueled by racism, as seen in that quick pic you showed of her having to call it out publicly.
@a.madison96254 жыл бұрын
Sadly, most of that racism and the negative comments came from Kristen Stewart's deranged fans. They can't accept that she's bisexual and prefers to be with women, they can only be her fan if she's Pattinson's girlfriend. It's a Twilight sickness. They only see her as Bella, and as such, she has to be with Edward. Stewart has one of the most sick fandoms in the world. They're homophobic and live in an alternative universe. They didn't just do this to Twigs, they do it to Katy Perry because she's a friend of Pattinson's, and they do it on the IG of his current girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse, who is white. They leave the same kind of hateful comments on her social media as they did with Twigs. Pattinson's own fans were very happy when he was with Twigs, and still support her. They ended on good terms and have no beef.

Everyone keeps saying she's not recognized by the mainstream enough. Personally, who cares? The purpose and point of her music, her artistry is expression. I love pop and many mainstream artists, but that's part of what makes her different. She's not swaying or moving to whatever is in trend, popular or accepted. That's what makes her even more authentic and sincere. You want mainstream then listen to that, you want different listen to her. Let her be where she is, and what she is. Art takes time, and not being in the mainstream allows her to do that.

holy shit she is magnificent and she is an artist. her body of work just shows how greatly dedicated she is to the craft of Art and it’s so liberating as a listener to heal and experience the relationship with ones self, love, pain, life together with her. along with celebrate ourselves through our craft, the extension to who we are. amazing

A beautiful analysis. Thank you, it was very eloquent and thought trough. One thing that happened after this yt video is that Lil Nas X copied the cellophane video without giving credit to FKA Twigs. They sort of hashed it out but still, not cool. Cellophane is a holy piece of art that I listen to multiple times a week.

Mad that I remember watching those early appearance of her in Jessie J videos, watching them on repeat and seeing her now at the stage she's at. Mindblown 😳

The real question is, why do we want to categorize her? Let the music speak for itself.

I think cellophane's meaning is more powerful and so to the core human suffering: from the pain of not being accepted we start to change ultimately to reject ourselves. In the video she reaches heights, only then to see herself without all the masks and she rejects it, pushes it away and before she knows it loses herself, that pure innocence that makes us who we are and what makes us creative and vulnerable. I believe sort of similar stories are in: The scientist, Runnin (naughty boy), falling water ,... I always hear these as the artists singing to themselves, or to the part they have been hurting, denying, covering up, hiding, being ashamed of. I had similar story with my body, having to realise the way I was talking to my body and how I kept judging it and being not happy, .. I was my own worst enemy and didn't even realise the damage i was doing.. She really hit home with that song. It's absolutely amazing. cool videos!!!
