i hate the fact that having music production as your hobby is very expensive Edit: Seems like some people didn't understand. Some people just prefer physical equipment rather than digital. Some people also like to have many, many keyboards and samplers, because they just like having so many different sounds and UI's. Some people just collect things like MPCs, sequencers, etc. becasue it is their hobby. These are not cheap, especially if you are not a professional musician. Also, you can not replace real instruments with vst. In FL Studio, there are 127 levels of note velocity. Real instruments are not limited to this, I haven't seen a plugin that can automate piano pedals, I don't think there is a plugin that has a choir that sounds like an actual choir, guitar, wind instruments, or strings. VSTs are not the same as real instruments. The only "instrument" I can think of that is better in digital form is probably Serum and synths like this, in which you can create your own sound

you can literally do it for free (excluding laptop/computer/phone)

Saying this with a joker pic is crazy.. do you think the joker would pay for plugins?

@ im talking about real equipment, not plugins. Synths, samplers, drum machines, sequencers, instruments, microphones, audio interfaces, it is all expensive af if you like to play with sound. Ps: I do not pay for plugins

Brother, 90% of the time, having real equipment ain't even worth it. There's always a way to achieve the same sound digitally if you have sound engineering skills. And more than anything, having too many instruments in general just acts as a distraction for actually making music. I've seen guys who buy equipment and fetishize the stuff, but I never actually see them putting out any songs like I do. I believe the key is to find the sound that you like, and hone in on that sound. Once I discovered what instruments I like, I just got a couple VSTs/packs I like dedicated to them, and I was able to start making content I like. I only need THOSE sounds. I don't even want more instruments because I realized (back when I used to get more) that I spend TIME searching through the sounds for ones I like- and that tiny return on investment in doing so isn't worth it. This music shit is mostly expensive in terms of time, not so much money.
