FL5 TYPE R | More Mods! | Episode 4

Hasport Performance is here to save the day!
Honda sent out the Type R with soft mounts, which unfortunately come with wheel hop. As you increase power, drivetrain power loss and damage increase too. Hasport motor mounts not only are beautifully crafted in Arizona, USA but are tested by Honda race teams such as HPD!

I installed the Hasport upper and lower torque mounts in my Accord, but I just couldn’t live with the amount vibration I was getting. I since have gone back to the stock dogbone on the rear mount, but I am still running the Hasport upper mount.

Back when building my 8th gen in 2009-2010 I remember the transformation doing 85a durometer mounts. Added with a good set of tires the car is much more planted.

@Indio Baez I've been fbo tuned since 18k miles I have just shy of 200k hard miles on it now. Last time on the dyno was at 150k miles and it made 208whp 157tq. Not bad for an 07 na. Still have more if I went with a bigger intake and exhaust.

I have the Honda Accord 2.0t. Would you recommend just the rear torque mounts, upper, or both?

How come you only installed the rear mount? Do you think the one rear mount is enough as a compromise for reduced wheel hop vs NVH?

The majority only install that one, so I wanted to split up the videos with impressions on one vs all. The whole set is here, I'll be installing the other two soon and make a video then.

Sorry, completely didn't answer your other question. I feel this lower mount is the best case for a daily driven Type R. Anything more and it might become an uncomfortable car for daily use. The NVH at this level is actually satisfying. However, I feel NVH is up each individual's tolerance.

For a daily fl5 would you recommend to change all the mounts like you’re referring to? would the only downside be the extra vibration?

Extra vibration for sure. I don't think it would be a good idea to do more than just the rear mount for a daily

How does the 'less flex between shifts' thing work, not being funny but I'm thinking cable shifter so shouldn't be a direct relationship between engine vibration/movement and what the cables/springs are doing between shifter and box 🤔

Engine is attached to the transmission. Linkage is on the transmission. Less movement = tighter link.

@@accoRding2Joel that's still not working in my head, the cable link is flexible, in theory the engine could be on jelly mounts or even not attached to the car and being wobbled on a trolly by someone, and the cable just moves with it, there should be no difference, harder or softer, to the connection between the shifter end of the cable and the gearbox. I only say this as with my k swap the engine mounts made no difference (OEM Vs hard), the only time I felt shifter difference was modifying the connection at the shifter or stiffening the springs in the gearbox. Maybe the fl5 has a different design somehow ... I'll find out when I get mine in a few weeks.

@@celliott16if you launch and run it to redline the wheels will definitely hop. Almost always. If you rev it to redline and actually look at the engine itself. It moves back and forth. Eliminate that movement. Eliminate the wheel hop. I don’t know where you’re going with the cable analogy.
