Hi Kit. Nice experiment. If you fancy expanding it, you could bring in an Aussie Alvey rod and reel. Going back to your Maxximus, it reminds me of the basic Winfield reels that were sold in Woolworths stores in the UK in the 70's/80's. Japanese made low end reels. My father had one and after he passed I brought it back to Okinawa. It's not a Penn or an Abu, it rattles a lot!, but it works and I use it for sabiki on my kayak sometimes. Whenever I catch anything on it, I feel closer to my father. Have fun with your Maxximus!

Hi Owen, I have tried the Alveys, have a couple of rods and reels back home. This head to head is because these two overhead systems are actually quite similar - only there are differences in rod design and reels used.Anyway, should be quite interesting! :)

Hi. Nice presentattion.. How is the reel doing? Is it "worth"? Thx
@TheFishingKit4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Henrique. the reel is doing fine, after changing the bearings it performs better, the handle change took away the wobble too. The build of this reel is not really mind blowing, and I don't exactly know how its going to survive the waters here in the long term, but so far so good. The brake blocks fall all over the place when you open them, so do keep note of this should you decide to buy one. Also, I feel the magnet is really lacking, as it is very small - no rood for an easy upgrade on magnet size as well.

@@whisperingblues9887 This is just one of many unfortunately. Anyway, people are still going to buy products like these thinking they can save money...in reality, they are just kind of wasting it.

this is a cheap and dirty swedish saltwater jigging reel. thats why it vibrates, it isn't that good. Basicy you added a basic hammer to your collection, that's colored black n violet.
@TheFishingKit2 жыл бұрын
Is it swedish? Don't know the brand but kinda like it anyway 😂 also not a jigging reel. it's a casting reel.

Even ABUs rust , you have to service them every 2 or 3 trips out in Salt Water . Here is the thing , these reels are very similar in design to ABU and AKIOS , so you can make upgrades to make them faster I.e . Ceramic bearings , remove a couple of the 6 Brake blocks , Change the main Drive Cog to a Stainless Steel one , and introduce a larger magnet to the braking , some of your American viewers are extremely ignorant of what and how to use these reels as They mainly use spinning reels . I would suggest they look at videos on Pendulum Casting with Multipliers and see the distances these reels can reach and why in the U.K we Super tune these for speed . You would not expect a high performance Car to be silent , so do not expect a high performance reel to be .
