This is a video about the making of the human letters which were projected on a screen in the eight-minute show aimed at introducing Tokyo, the capital of Japan, at the flag handover ceremony.
Delivering the words “Thank you” in different languages expressed in human letters to people around the world
The “Thank you” in human letters was performed to convey the Japanese people’s appreciation for the support and opportunities afforded to Japan in recent years by people around the world. The ingenious display of human letters was performed by approximately 10,000 young people, who make up the next generation, from 27 schools. They included students from Fukushima Futaba Mirai Gakuen, an integrated junior and senior high school that was established only last year; schools in Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate Prefectures, which were hit by the Great East Japan Earthquake; and Hakuo High School and other schools in Tokyo, which are involved in promoting Olympic and Paralympic education toward the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
