What pisses me off is how all the outraged people are completely ignoring the story about how his trans comic friend ended her life after her "community" turned on her because she defended him. He's pointing out the BS in their movement. He literally said how he respects them but not how the movement is doing things which is fair based on that story. He said he'll no longer be doing jokes about them so not sure what the fuss is all about. They aren't paying attention to what he is really saying which Dave also touches on.. They are picking and choosing what to be offended by and letting someone who they will never meet live in their heads rent free.
@karmelmi3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. It's pretty obvious that a majority of the people who are triggered definitely either didn't watch it at all, or watched some then got salty and turned it off. Or even worse, like you pointed out, they take little clips out of context and use it to justify their outrage. Too many people that are just selectively hearing whatever they want to excuse their views.

to be fair, I doubt they made it that far into the special. most people who would be offended by that would just turn it off and not sit for another hour. As a black man I'd be type pissed if 98 percent of all black jokes were stereotypes and negative. There's a reason the trans community is becoming more vocal. I'm all for joking on EVERYONE but if we're keeping it funky there really is no balance when it comes to jokes. Remember white people cried when they felt the media portrayed them as racist and Karens?? You still see post today form white people on KZbin saying stuff like "imagine if a white person said that about a black person" " imagine if the roles were reversed". They posted those things not because they want to be @$$holes but because they felt marginalized. Imagine being in country where everyone hates you , thinks you mentally ill, sexually aggressive and promiscuous?? Well if you're black or trans you don't have to imagine.

As a woman, I almost cried when Chapelle stood up for us the way he did in this special. It was such a relief that a powerful man was speaking up & saying what we've been saying: this is modern minstrelsy. A group of individuals born male are taking over women's sports & spaces. We're expected to welcome them into our restrooms where we breastfeed & change our babies & our clothes. The reality is that the vast majority of these individuals do not continue to identify this way long-term, yet we're expected to say they're just like us. Females are literally born with biology that makes us second-class citizens. We have all the burdens of childbirth, menstruation & childrearing. As a result of that we make 70 cents on the dollar since we're often able to work less or dedicate less of our effort to work. So, when people who are born male make us say they're women just bc they choose to identify that way, get surgeries, makeup & wigs, we're doing it out of politeness, not bc we believe it. Nobody believes it. They don't even believe it themselves. The vast majority of them will wash off the makeup & reassert their male privilege at some point. They don't even want to be an actual woman, who gets fat, old, etc. They want to be some hot cartoon in their head.

Women do not make 70 cents on the dollar. If that were true companies would only hire women. The truth is men do all the hard work. The jobs that women are unwilling to do or physically cannot. It turns out those jobs also pay more than what people with degrees make in general. Also the other reason for the skew in those numbers are the amount of service industry jobs that are out there and are predominantly occupied by females. Meaning waitresses bartenders or tipped employees. Since there hourly in most places is anywhere from 2-3 dollars. It greatly affects these numbers. Also just stop! More women are graduating college than men. You're equal get over it. If you're still upset look within because as a hiring manager who pays close attention to labor and statistics it's over. The reason Dave is getting attacked is cause he declared the objective truth. He didn’t denounce the trans experience but he also didn’t say that it was real to everyone else. This is the core at which is the problem because declaring you are something you are not is much different than saying you want to act a certain way.

Akaash kept repeating the point that Dave should get the pass because, "Chappelle is funny. These guys are wrong." I feel like he's completely missing the point. The main reason Chappelle gets the pass is because there is clearly no hatred towards this group that he's joking about. If he was actually a dick about it, he'd be catching some deserved heat. In reality, it was apparent to anyone and everyone who watched his special that he is ultimately accepting of trans people. He's compassionate and empathetic to their struggles. With that foundation to stand on, he made jokes about them, the same as he does for any group of people for which he can come up with a funny joke. He had that bit in this special that not enough people picked up on. He says something along the lines of, "if you've watched my comedy, you'd know that my problem is with white people." Obviously this isn't the case, but Dave has made a ridiculous number of jokes at the expense of white people over the years, many of which are far more cruel, inaccurate, and less funny than his trans material. But of course you'd have to be crazy to think that he should be cancelled for these jokes. Just like you'd have to be crazy to think that he should be cancelled for finding the funny when it comes to trans people.

You nailed it when you said that this company would have less clap back by keeping the special up, than cancelling him. This will blow over in a week anyways, and capitalism almost ALWAYS wins. Joe hasn't been cancelled yet, I don't see Chapelle getting cancelled any time soon... and if these flagrant assholes don't get cancelled.... then were headed in the right direction. I'm a fan of free speech, but not a huge fan of a small minority trying to influence the majority to attack peoples livelihoods, especially over JOKES... most which has been taken out of context. I was shocked at the degree of misinterpretation that occured, as if his story about the trans comic was not even heard. It was actually emotional to hear his sadness about how it ended. And also actually being pissed off at how they twisted it into trans-phobic, when in fact it was a demonstration at how absurd things have gotten. Which has been the major topic of his comedy. The absurdity of stereotypes, prejudice, racism, and all kind of ridiculous behaviors. It makes me doubt the critics have even seen the show, or if so, turned it off after the first mention of trans.
