So much was wrong: The Roman Empire fell in 1453 The British Empire, for most of it's history used the same flag as the modern UK Russia had an Empire, and it was the Russian Empire. Portugal also had an Empire, which lasted until 1974, and 1910 was when Portugal became a republic, not when Portugal's Empire fell. 1919 was when Austria's Empire fell, 1867 is just when it was renamed to the Austro- Hungarian Empire.

As it's already pointed out, that Sun flag with layers is not the flag of Japanese Empire. Japanese Empire had the same flag as modern Japan, the Sun flag without layers. (To be exact, there were small differences in details but they are more or less the same.) The one with layers was the flag of Imperial Japanese Navy, and the same flag is still used in current Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force. In other words, for Japanese flags, whether there are Sun layers or not has nothing to do with whether it's imperial or not.
