I've had "Hen of the Woods" this year they are very edible and taste pretty good the way i cooked them they turned out sweet. If you are trying to cook them your just want to put them in butter just like you did and then just fry them in a skillet like a steak.

yellow onions are for cooking, white are the sharpest tasting/crunch(salsas), red are kinda lightened up(not as oniony good for eating raw). Yellow sweet onions are best for frying(onion rings and whatnot) I pretty much mess with white onions mostly but that's me! You may not see this but hope it helps someone! That mushroom is INSANE!! Keep up the work Flair love the videos! Edit: sorry watched a little more. Salted butter is for normal use. Unsalted is for baking or using in things that already have plenty of salt!

They’re called hen of the woods because they taste like chicken. We had a bunch that would grow on our old oak tree. We froze them and ate them all year. Between those and morels in the spring, we never bought mushrooms.

Hen of the Woods, aka Maitaki. My favorite mushroom ever. You can treat it like dark meat chicken. I am addicted to the chicken tenders recipe! FYI, it can literally sell for $15/lb. It freezes perfectly, dehydrated as well. It does not keep in the fridge past 1 week.
