hi Will, do you have any advice how to deal with a fear and be more confident in the begging. I lean on my back foot all the time (and fall on my back) because it is so scary to jump into the sail.

Hi mate, Yeah so first of all try to practice in conditions you feel very comfortable in. If you're too over powered it's very hard to build the confidence. Another thing is try to look for a lull (or hole) in the wind to take off into. That's what I did when I was learning, I would build some good speed and look ahead to see where there was a patch of water that looked like there was less wind and try to jump on the wind line into the patch of less/no wind. That really helped me as I'd have enough speed to jump but then the sail would go really light for the take off which makes it much easier to control the sail. The final thing is try to go a bit further downwind. Hope that helps, let me know how you get on :)

@@willnicholls5 now in Dahab it is quite hard to find comfortable conditions) but will try to find a lull ( probably in the end of baby bay)

When I'm watching people do them It always seems that the nose of the board needs to stick into the water to get rotation. From your video. This seems to be unnecessary.? I have been trying these for sometime and I am struggling.. it's quite intimidating trying to stick the nose of the board into the water when going at speed. Any further help appreciated.

Getting the nose to catch will help. Similar to the Vulcan/Spock it creates a point of rotation. The way to do this is to make sure you tuck up with the back foot and with the sail forward it will force the nose down. In my early attempts I wasn't getting the nose to catch as you mention but I also wasn't getting a good rotation. The moment I did get the nose to catch was the first moment I got the feeling for the flaka. This only came when I started to be more confident with the pop and the sail throw. I would build my confidence by trying the Flaka in conditions I felt comfortable with, which meant I could be more aggressive with the movements. Another thing I tried was heading further downwind as this helped me get the power out of the sail making it easier to move the sail and making the board easier to pop. One final tip is to look for a lull to take off into. Build speed (because you do need speed) and look for a lull where you will carry momentum but will avoid having too much power in the sail. This one really helped build my confidence. Hope that helps, let me know if you still have questions :)

@@willnicholls5 thanks Will for your in-depth reply. It is much appreciated. 👍. In other tutorials people talk about throwing the hips down wind after the board pop with regards the first part if the move. Could you elaborate on this. ?? ...Also would looking in a particular direction help with rotation ( like the Spock) . I'm struggling with what exactly I have to do when that nose catches the water. Also do in need to be twisting my upper half of the body to get the rotation.?? Please help.😂
