no it definitely draws inspiration from basic gundam design in the waist and shoulders, which makes sense because it seems like it also uses some original design features- and original transformers (outside of the head) looked damn near identical to the earlier gundam models.

Great job. I have this one as well and can confirm the loose legs seem to be a common issue. Also the swords have flimsy grips but maybe that's just my copy. Perhaps the reason there are peg holes in the arms and legs are for the Jetpower upgrade kit that they're working on. Hopefully the legs can withstand the added height and center of gravity when it's all suited up, I pre ordered mine at TFCon and the jumbo axe is even longer than the great sword and comes with another set of hands designed to hold it.

Andrew bro the reason the hips/knees are loose is because Flame Toys wanted fluid movement, the articulation works on ground though, perfectly (according to them). But I personally like tight joints myself like my metal builds, however I haven't had these flame Toys figures yet. Peace out bro long time fan.

I’m sure someone has said that those holes are the universal ports for Transformers. You can plug in other weapons from other figures, battle masters, Target Masters, Etc. I like your longer reviews because they don’t feel any longer then your average timed ones. I can't believe they didn't use ratcheted hips. That's a whole lot of die cast to be held, purely by tension. I know that my Fans Toys figures have a lot of die cast and they also use tension based hips for their figures. But, for a figure where the primary purpose is for design and articulation, I would think the would have went with ratchets. He is awesome looking though... For me, the releases that have tempted me the most are their Star Saber and Tarn, especially the Black Star Saber that's about to release. But, I'm already all-in on the MP lines for G1 and Beast Wars. I just don't know if I can throw in another aesthetic into the Collection.
@AnthonysCustoms
@AnthonysCustoms 4 жыл бұрын
Ratchets are terrible. They impede posing and eventually wear down and become useless. This is especially true when you need to use a large toothed ratchet. Posing is very limited and sloppy between stopping points.
@PicklerEntertainment
@PicklerEntertainment 4 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonysCustoms I was thinking of the smaller soft buttery ratchets with as any different stopping points as possible. Their common in other high end TF figures. But, I agree some figures use far too large of ratchets preventing them from striking more natural poses. But, to dismiss all ratchets in general, then that's where I would disagree. I have some figures where they are implemented perfectly, others not so much. But, none of the figures I own have ever failed.
@PicklerEntertainment
@PicklerEntertainment 4 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonysCustoms Also... I just watched Peaugh's review of this figure, his review just dropped today as well. He didn't walk through articulation, but he did show some poses on the flight stand and the front/backward movement on his hips seemed much tighter than yours. When he moved them they had the squeaky tightness that I'm used to seeing in my Fans Toys figures. So maybe they'll work out something with you...
@AnthonysCustoms
@AnthonysCustoms 4 жыл бұрын
@@PicklerEntertainment that kind of ratchet wouldnt work on a leg that weighs as much as these.

It's a very good figure but it's also way to expensive for a mass produced figure, if it had the exact same quality and it was limited to 300 I would be OK with the price, it would still be expensive, but if the quantity was limited it would be a good investment. Mass produce figures go up in price immediately after they where sold out and more often then not the value will come back down close to the retail price eventually. Don't get collectible action figures confused with toy action figures, the last normally go up in price because they where played with and are hard to find complete and in good condition 35 years after they where originally released. Now collectors know better and they keep the figures intact, they preserve every accessory and even keep the original boxes so 35 years later there will probably still exist lots of MINT figures for sale so the price wont go up that high. For a figure this expensive that looseness in the legs and knees going forward and back is a big issue, it wont hold an aerial action pose on the stand it came with so the action feature will be very limited because of it. It's very well sculpted, painted and the engineering of the articulation is great. It has loads of moving parts so the part count must be very high. I never had a Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri in hand but relying on what the reviewers say and what I can see in the videos the material seems very good. Thanks for the review Anthony.

This thing is beautiful; I fall in the group that prefers a cool looking robot over a boxy thing with wheels so I'd definitely favor these types of releases over ACTUAL Transformers. I applaud your usual fair judgement; I agree that the hips are unacceptable; no one that spends this amount of money is going to be unhappy with how good everything else is, but it should be called out as a big issue. Sentinel usually excels like no other company in distributing diecast accordingly and avoid looseness but maybe since this is kind of a joint project so who knows who was in charge. I personally feel this Optimus is pure quality but at the same time, like most high-end figures, IS overpriced. 250 would be more reasonable and still expensive as hell. Finally I don't understand saying it looks like a Gundam like it's a bad thing but hey, it's a matter of taste I guess.

It's interesting that these are so expensive when they don't even require the engineering to make them work as a transformer. I don't like these at all, I think it's a completely different aesthetic than transformers and looks more like a generic robot than the characters they're supposed to represent. That being said, glad you like it and I'd be curious how you feel about the robot enhanced design line that hasbro is coming out with.

Beautiful figure but too expensive for me. It has too be 12 inches and transforming at that price point.

@@AnthonysCustoms much better maybe a bit strong but in terms of price point and what you get for it I think it wins. I got mine for £200 and the paint work is amazing, the articulation is great.i also prefer the general look but that's more subjective. The accessories aren't as good as this one but it's nearly half price so I can let it go. Have you seen the 3A hasbro one, I would like to know your thoughts.

Am I the only one that thought, with the price point, he should have at least articulated hands plus the posed hands?
@AnthonysCustoms
@AnthonysCustoms 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe. When you have all the poses, there's no need for finger articulation. articulated hands often have trouble holding things whereas preposed hands ,with the right variety, can accomplish anything you need.

I wish the design was a little more G1 and I would have gone in on this
@TimothyLau55

it's IDW...they probably could not land the right because of other companies already making G1 inspired...like Threezero Bumblebee Optimus and Takara was making very G1 MP 44 which is same price.

Told my wife how much this figure cost and I may get it, she told me that thing better pleasure me as well. I said what, you saying my buddy down below is so small in her eyes those little tiny figure hands would do the job. She said she thinks a guy who buys this must have one that size in order to spend that much money on something like that. Ouch. Got to love a wife who supports your hobby..lol.
