What's also amazing is that aMSa did all of this, with a character that nobody took seriously. I honestly do believe that without aMSa, Yoshi probably still would still be seen as a low tier in melee. Through sheer determination and hard work he not only put himself on the map, not only his chatacter on the map, and he even put his own country on the map. Definitely one of the most inspirational players in Melee for me.

@@FlameIsLucky just two small improvement points for you, both on the audio front: 1) I felt like your audio for your vocals were inconsistent at times - it sounded like you recorded in two separate occasions with two different recording environments. If possible, try to record in the same environment as possible. I know that's not always possible, so see if you can do something about it in post. 2) I also felt like your vocals were a little quiet and often were drowned out by the background music. Decreasing the background music or simply increasing your vocal volume will probably help with that. Of course, there's probably many reasons for you to have these issues, that we wouldn't be able to understand, but I am sure that you only keep improving 😊

I'd like to share a very prophetic moment that occurred. You see, TBH10 was the first super major my boyfriend and I were honored to see in person, as we live close enough to travel to it. We decided we'd watch the main games online and then on Sunday we'd hit the conference center in person since it was super cheap. We get in, we move around a bit and finally get to a decent seat where we think is perfect. Right on stage left in between the middle and right monitor. The guy who was already sat there and looked over at us. "Who are you guys rooting for?" We both looked at each other and thought for a moment, and without a word exchanged both said "aMSa." See I have only been into competitive smash for a few months, but I know most of the players. I know who I like and don't like. And I know aMSa plays a mean red yoshi. Something in the air just told us this was it. This was his super major. This was the Year of the Red Yoshi. 20🥚🥚

The fun thing is I think we will get another aMSa. Fun titles and memes aside, I think we're all blessed to be fans of a 20 year old game with a fan base like this. In the past year I've convinced my 53 year old baseball fan dad that Melee is a sport to me. Knowing we'll continue to have new players who shape the game even now, and content creators who feel passionate enough about these stories to make videos even now is so beautiful to me. Still a relevant quote, "There is so much more Melee to be played". Truly lucky to be a fan.

I love when vids like these show almost a decade of melee, and you can see such a ludicrous difference in skill level between eras of melee. Yeah, the 5 gods were good, but back then you could get by on just any one of winning neutral or flowcharting or punishing with great combos. Now it's like if even one aspect of these guys' game is lacking, they're not making it into top 10 ranking. Everyone is so. Damn. Good.

fantastic stuff thanks for that and i love how this has turned never ever for melee into it's own series lol though i do feel to add more technical weight to this achievement you really should have added some more at the beginning about the history of melee and how the characters work and their matchup rankings

I loved this video, one thing that would have been cool to include is yoshi's new tier ranking, and talk about how aMSa elevated the character all the way to the top ten. Who knows? In another ten years maybe Yoshi will be trying to fight for first just like aMSa!

You’re right that was a missed opportunity! I feel like without aMSa we wouldn’t even see yoshi as a viable character at all

I'm a little surprised you didn't say anything regarding aMSa's 2nd half of 2017 (aMSa vs Crush, Gods & Gatekeepers, 2-0ing Plup at GTX 2017, etc), or aMSa's wins vs Axe at EGLX 2018 or his win vs Hungrybox at Smash Summit 6. That said, I really enjoyed watching this documentary about my favorite player. Thanks for all your hard work!

If I had one wish, it’d be that along with the part where you talk about yoshi’s flaws as a character, that you’d also go over his strong tools that sets him apart from top tiers and editing in clips of when those tools are relevant.

@@lesqueegee thanks for the feedback, that’s a good point - parrying and dj armor are so good if you know how to use them like Amsa!
