Okay, as a newbie, the starter force is a pretty good bet. That box plus an IS-2 box will get you up to about 100 points, including a mix of artillery, armour, and infantry. As we say in the video, a strong main formation will stop you getting strategically sniped off the board. We've got videos coming up on list writing as part of the Field Manual series. There's a play list for that OK our channel and the next video drops Monday!

@@thedicegodswg thanks! Looking forward to it. I am in the habit of painting my models before playing with them, so that has gotten me in trouble when I first start a game. I don’t want to go tot he trouble to paint a lot of stuff, only to find it’s terrible on the table!

Interesting that the 203mm is limited to two-gun batteries. It's undeniably punchy, but it'll always be re-rolling successful hits in bombardment, and if it takes a single casualty it's on Last Stand checks. Looking back at the v3 Berlin book, you used to be able to take them in units of 4 or even 8 (!) although the latter would cost approx 1/3 of an average sized army's points. Is the 2-gun unit just the in-formation version? Does it come back in the Formation Support options?

It does appear in support in 2 and 4 gun versions. So, you can avoid those re-rolls!

Don't really get why they picked M4s for their starter force. I mean if you want to jump in now for a Soviet force you end up with a load of US tanks.

I know what you mean. Even with my Brits I avoid the M4. But you can still pull in T-34 and IS-2 formations. Those minis did appear in the last two soviet starter forces too.

The Russians made heavy use of the m4s, and of a type that were not common for US forces. It doesn't seem "russian", but it is historical.
