Proper Posture • Standing: Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart. • Sitting: Sit at the edge of your seat, back straight, feet flat on the ground. • Holding the Trombone: With your left hand, grip the brace near the bell section. Your left thumb should rest on the brace or thumb ring, and your fingers should curl around the instrument. Your right hand holds the slide at the bottom brace with your thumb and two fingers (usually index and middle). 3. Breathing • Deep Breaths: Inhale deeply from your diaphragm, not your chest. Keep your shoulders relaxed and expand your belly as you breathe in. • Steady Airflow: Exhale steadily and evenly. The key to producing sound is a controlled and continuous airflow through the instrument. 4.
