Considered one of the best "doo-wop" ballads of all time in the USA. The Flamingos were arguably the top harmony group of the 50s. It was a "ladies choice" dance song and high on the "make out" scale for the time. I think you missed the spirit of the performance but this is before your time. The original song is actually an up tempo tune from the 30s.

For me it's the simple piano chords that play throughout the entire song. Any time there is a change in the chords is nice, but the transitions after 1:24 & 2:31 are heavenly.

Well, I stand corrected. Written in 1934 by Harry Warren & Phil Dubin, for the '34 film " Dames ", sung on screen by Dick Powell , not Fred Astaire. ---------and, it's Nate Nelson on lead, not one of the Carey Brothers. --------Just a Doo Wop Classic, for certain. ---------------------MJL, 76 y/o

ENOMA : Correction, MY error . The 2 Carey Brothers, Zeke & Jake, could get confusing, but it was Jake Carey on lead vocal. also, I'm not at all certain just WHO 1st sang this song in the 30's. I was sure it WAS Astaire-------but now ? Not so sure at all. --------------MJL, 76 y/o

IMO, Art's version can't even come close to the Flamingos version. The Flamingos had the great background vocals, along with Nate's lead vocal and the subtle guitar.
