I know the guts of the Flamma & the Donner are pretty identical, if not exactly the same but, without being biased, which would you say is better (sorry... don't even know if you've tried the Donner yet 🤔) Liked, Subscribed & Commented ... it's just that it's gonna be my 1st Looper (plus the drum machine is great for practice, fun & entertainment. I really want to and have heard that the main difference is going to be that the drum loops are different. It otherwise seems to have all the same options, even same number of loop save slots. @@DoubleDguitar - Thanks so much for getting back to me on this, really appreciate you taking the time to look at my message and reply to it ... you're a gentleman. Yeah ... that's kinda what was putting me off too believe it or not ... the arty stuff on the Donner looks a little, almost childlike, y'know? But saying that, I saw this one first & it impressed the shit outta me but the Flamma looks like a professional looper. Thing is, the Donner is £92.99 plus I get 10% off my first order directly from them but the cheapest Flamma I can find is £107.99 up to £157.99 ... I'm thinking I'm answering my own question here 🤔... I'm probably gonna have a punt at the Donner but I sure thank you for all of your help in showing us what the much better looking Flamma can do. I'm no professional, believe it or not, I'm a drummer at heart but picked up the Bass (obvious rhythm section) and then started with a bit of keyboard and guitar ... us writing/singing songs and messing around on an old Yamaha MT1X Portastudio for production ... it's all for fun, no paid work etc, thanks once again DD - you're one cool dude. ✌😎👍

Thanks for this very helpful video ; I have a question, though, using the external control : can you go from one recorded loop on a memory slot to the next while playing, and how does it react (does it stay in sync) ? What I have in mind is : if you have a long song (over 4 minutes) with different sections (like verse, chorus and break), could you record, say, the first half of the song and the 2nd part on the next memory, to then play them one after the other, switching from the 1st one to the 2nd part with the ext ctrl (and would it keep in sync) ? Sorry for the long msg & thank you for any help
@DoubleDguitar
@DoubleDguitar Жыл бұрын
Hey man, glad you found the video. I hope my answer helps. You can do this, but you have to plan ahead. Advancing to a loop patch with nothing recorded will stop the player. However, you could record a blank loop or set up a set of patterns across the loop numbers you want to use. Then when you go to the next section of the song, it will keep playing. When the looper sees there is something on the track you advance to, it will play and stay synced. If it is a blank, empty loop, it stops. So you should be able to do what you are talking about, but with some prep work.

@DoubleDguitar
@DoubleDguitar 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how deep you want to get with it. For getting ideas down at different tempos and jamming on some progressions, it’s really better sounding than some of the simpler drum and looper pedals. The kit styles do change and they have some variety. However, you may get a little bored with the fact that there are only a few variations of beats that are useable on their own. In other words, it may not be enough for a full set of street performance unless you can get a lot of mileage from just a few variations. But for messing around at home and really working on ideas, it’s actually really good for that. The tones don’t wear on you or grate your ears while jamming along over and over to them. Which is good.

@DoubleDguitar
@DoubleDguitar 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, hope I can help. I haven’t noticed that for myself. I know that it all works better for me if I make sure I have the drum section on before I try to record something. I have even just used the Metronome setting and then swapped to the drums and it has kept up good synch. I know it is a little more forgiving that way, since it helps keep the recorded loops at a proper length. Maybe you are stopping the loop just a little too early for it to compensate? Definitely don’t try to record a loop without the drums and then try to add them later. That will create a larger difference that the rhythms can’t compensate for.

@@DoubleDguitar Thank you for this suggestion. I'm still looking for a way to make it more foolproof. For example if you use the loopy app (ios), it automatically sets the loops you're recording to the exact length of the drum loop. Takes the guesswork and fuss out of looping.

@@jeremyshermanPhD yes, exactly. In fact, I have actually just gone into the patches and saved the specific tempo first. That actually really helped a couple of times. Then you can clear the loop, but the tempo remains and will be there for the next time you play that particular patch/song.

@@DoubleDguitar I appreciate this help Double D but I must still not be making myself clear. I'm not good at hitting the stop recording loop button on time. I could get better at it but until then and for live gigs, I'd like it if it quantized my loop to match the length of the drum measure. That's what the app loopy does. In Loopy. You specify how many measures you want to record and once you start it, it stops automatically at the end. I'm guessing the pedal can't do that, or even quantize my recording to match the downbeat. Yes, though it can be a little tricky. Using the control switch, selecting the drum side, the buttons will go up and down between the different drum beats and styles. However, some styles have odd time signature patterns in their mix, so you have to be aware of what moves you want to do before you try to make it happen. But being quick with your foot, yes. Questions. Stereo, only have one modeling Amp, what do I do to get stereo, another Amp? And, all my effects on Amp, well with playback I cannot separate parts with reverb, delay, etc. Do I need effect pedals if front of looper? Getting senile I guess. Nice haircut, did you get an office job? 😁
@DoubleDguitar
@DoubleDguitar 3 жыл бұрын
We all have questions and thanks about the haircut 🤣 You can use this in mono mode and still get what you want from it. However with modeling, unless you plug into the loop of the amp, your recorded loop sounds will change when you change patches. Using the loop puts it after, and then I bet you can even use the right output to another amp set clean or a return section of an amp. Does your amp have an fx loop?

If you don't have an effects loop on your amp is this still usable
@DoubleDguitar

It wouldn’t be with the drums going into a dirty amp. If you use gain pedals into a clean amp, not a problem. But still not as clear as what they would would like into a mixer, or even a return. Since the guitar speakers will not have quite the frequency range for kicks and hats. But it can work fine for solo practice time and probably some band jams.

Looping itself can really be an art, and this is a pretty basic level looper. In the sense that it only has one track and can synch up with the drum tracks, for smoother loops. Would have loved to have gone on for a lot longer, not always easy to cover it all. It is a fun looper and the circle will function the same as this.
