The moment when pain said "Those who dont know pain will never understand true peace" before destoying the village actually makes sense now with some thinking. We live in a peaceful times because of the past, Countries use nukes and saw how big the damage is which made them fear it. Those who have experience with that damage knows that pain of using one so wars have stopped temporarily. Those are from a long time ago and most people that know that pain either passed away or in old age. So people now dont know what nukes can cause so we are nearing the part where humans will start war again and after that will have momentary peace from experiencing the same pain. The cycle continues like what is pain is saying now. We are not smart enough to just accept one another because of Racism, Conflicts, Past events, and etc. I somehow just put this show in a reality because what Pain said was the most realistic thing we have in our world so far. For people that is saying "That would never work blah blah blah you bad guy we love naruto he mc", Look at our world now, This is the world what pain would have wanted to have peace. Exactly, and everybody should know that the peace Naruto was able to achieve is temporary. Down the line, the ninja world would find itself back where it started. As for our real world, once something more powerful than nukes comes along (possibly discovered during the nuke war), it will be used for yet another war. This is the unfortunate legacy of humanity. Pain's ideologies are feasible, they are reasonable things to do. Pain isnt contradicting himself when he starts referring to himself as "an ordinary Man" ( he's dropping his pretense of beeing a "God" to truly have a heart-to-heart conversation with naruto as fellow disciples because he truly wants Naruto to understand his motives and see things from his perspectives ). The Talk No Jutsu in this arc showed how much Jiraiya meant to both Naruto and Nagato and they both only wanted to achieve what Jiraiya wanted them to. But Nagato suffered so much pain in his life that he even forgot what he himself was. I loved the TnJ in this arc.

To be fair... what Pain said is very true even in the real world. For Yuval Herrari, a world historian, stated that due to increase of nuclear weapons, countries became more reluctant in engaging wars due to how destructive it is. The fact that fear for a major world-ending power is the only way to achieve momentary peace can be applied not only to later in Naruto (and Boruto) but also in real life and real history frightens me, it scares me a lot. This "momentary" peace we're living is first, not everywhere, and second, happening because should a war break out, mutual destruction is guaranteed. Stupid narutard thinking Naruto is better than everything else. While I do agree that deku isn't as emotionally strong, Gon and Eren are some of the best main characters ever because they are able to break the line between what is a protagonist and what is not. Eren is like Pain as he uses extreme methods to achieve a cause he believe is right (freedom) and Gon was never a sane good-hearted person to begin with. They're so different in so many ways you can't make a good comparison between them. If u want to make a more fair comparison you have ASTA from BC, he did not have a childhood as depressing as Naruto but he also meet multiple obstacle on his path mainly because he is considered as an outcast for not having magic but he still stay on the right path no matter what.

If you think about it....it took Itachi,Naruto and bee to defeat pain in his prime....that explains why jiraya thought that he would bring about peace in that world aka a prodigy.....a very well written character,just like the others.

Fun fact, the creator of naruto intendedly creates this kind villain to show the world how his life full of pain. These anime creator's family died in car accidents, his daughter and wife got killed and above the devastating tragedy he did not get his justice over the person responsible of the accidents the authority did not give the justice for the death of his family but rather let they let the guy who responsible of the tragedy not to serve in prison. That is the reason why the villain PAIN especially Nagato is very close to the heart of that creator.
